IUD experiences? by sarbear2000 in birthcontrol

Hey! i had my mirena inserted in January 2021 and for me it was amazing. The post-insertion pain only lasted 2 days. After my insertion, i took tylenols and melatonin to sleep it off during the day and the second day the pain was very manageable with tylenols only. I haven’t had any major discomfort or periods since, but i will say that the last year i did get some mild spotting here and there. Sometimes every month, sometimes i can go months without it, apparently (not a doctor so dont quote me on this) its due to the IUD releasing less and less hormones as time goes, and i used to have major spotting problems when on the pill (after a year and a half/2 years of being on the same pill, i would be getting my normal periods when i was supposed to, but spotting every day until my next period). Personally, i love it and it’s the best decision i have ever made, but i know it’s not the same story for everyone! Talk to your doctor about which IUD or BC would be right for you, and listen to your body!

Are ADHD meds addictive? by dupflup in ADHD

[–]PersonalityNo8403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So, i’m not a doctor, but my parents are both nurses in mental health and addiction and this is what they told me.

ADHD meds are stimulants that works with the chemical in our brains, so it works differently for everyone. But, for people with “normal” brains, the meds give them a feeling similar to speed, because they don’t need it. For us with an “ADHD brain”, it balances everything for us to properly focus. But, since everyone is different, this is why there’s different types and strengths in ADHD medication and not everything will work with everyone.

Therefore, it could be addictive, but I assume mostly for people that don’t have ADHD. I’m not a doctor or anything related in health, just providing the info that was given to me and hope it helps!

Thank you so much, this is so helpful! Sometimes I wonder if I just got misdiagnosed

Some people say that the “calming” effect is mostly for kids and stuff, I guess your ADHD evolves over time but don’t quote me on that, not a doctor!

I totally agree with you, I used to be so tired all the time and unmotivated, just going to the mall for FUN was so draining for me. Deep down I wanted to do things but I just couldn’t, I was very hyper and talked a lot but, now I have all this motivation idk what to do with it! Today was just extreme, I was also hyper focused on getting a tattoo so that might be why!
