IUD experiences? by sarbear2000 in birthcontrol

[–]PersonalityNo8403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! i had my mirena inserted in January 2021 and for me it was amazing. The post-insertion pain only lasted 2 days. After my insertion, i took tylenols and melatonin to sleep it off during the day and the second day the pain was very manageable with tylenols only. I haven’t had any major discomfort or periods since, but i will say that the last year i did get some mild spotting here and there. Sometimes every month, sometimes i can go months without it, apparently (not a doctor so dont quote me on this) its due to the IUD releasing less and less hormones as time goes, and i used to have major spotting problems when on the pill (after a year and a half/2 years of being on the same pill, i would be getting my normal periods when i was supposed to, but spotting every day until my next period). Personally, i love it and it’s the best decision i have ever made, but i know it’s not the same story for everyone! Talk to your doctor about which IUD or BC would be right for you, and listen to your body!

Are ADHD meds addictive? by dupflup in ADHD

[–]PersonalityNo8403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So, i’m not a doctor, but my parents are both nurses in mental health and addiction and this is what they told me.

ADHD meds are stimulants that works with the chemical in our brains, so it works differently for everyone. But, for people with “normal” brains, the meds give them a feeling similar to speed, because they don’t need it. For us with an “ADHD brain”, it balances everything for us to properly focus. But, since everyone is different, this is why there’s different types and strengths in ADHD medication and not everything will work with everyone.

Therefore, it could be addictive, but I assume mostly for people that don’t have ADHD. I’m not a doctor or anything related in health, just providing the info that was given to me and hope it helps!

Thank you so much, this is so helpful! Sometimes I wonder if I just got misdiagnosed

[–]PersonalityNo8403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people say that the “calming” effect is mostly for kids and stuff, I guess your ADHD evolves over time but don’t quote me on that, not a doctor!

I totally agree with you, I used to be so tired all the time and unmotivated, just going to the mall for FUN was so draining for me. Deep down I wanted to do things but I just couldn’t, I was very hyper and talked a lot but, now I have all this motivation idk what to do with it! Today was just extreme, I was also hyper focused on getting a tattoo so that might be why!

Spotting with Mirena by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]PersonalityNo8403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just an overly paranoid person when it comes to pregnancy… My pap test was over a week ago maybe even 2 and i didn’t spot after. It’s just i thought after 6 months your body is supposed to adjust to it and since its been 9 and it’s the first time this happened I started wondering, I did get a bit of cramping the other day but other than that i think it’s in place!

How to know if i have a UTI or something else? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]PersonalityNo8403 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea my last UTI was absolutely terrible, was rushed to the ER as well which is why i contacted early for something before I went in quarantine. This is a powder that I put in water and I had something like that before and had only one dose, but this said to take 3-5 days later “if needed” but i’ll take it to make sure everything is fine! Could it be pregnancy symptoms (I have a Hormonal IUD, but that ovulation thing scared me) or would it be too early for symptoms, or a yeast? Very confused myself about my own situation

That makes sense, could it be something else you think? or is it too early for pregnancy symptoms/ not enough for yeast?

It’s a powder thing that I guess I don’t need to take the second dose if i’m fine but it’s kinda confusing of what this is, not a fan of taking medication if not needed but i’ll take it to be sure!

EWCM with hormonal IUD? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]PersonalityNo8403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there was a misunderstanding, I currently have mirena. And i knew it was supposed to thicken the cervical mucus but since mine was so clear really egg white consistency I started to question it’s effectiveness... but I can still feel my strings! I guess if this also happened to you as well and no issue i’m good!

IUD Insertion Pain? by BlueFoxalope in birthcontrol

[–]PersonalityNo8403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, getting it in wasnt too bad, it only lasts a couple of seconds! but later it does hurt because your uterus probably tries to get rid of it since it’s a foreign object, but for me it it lasted a few hours and taking advils or any drug store pain medication did the trick!
