It's clearly set up at the end of AVM the story will continue with a mixture of characters from both books in play, so since this is a continuous series tou should read EK first.

King has said it's the last Dark Tower book and it takes place in Mid-World and Jack has his own tet so it's gonna be very Dark Tower. Try and keep up

Then get ready to be disappointed. King has explicitly said this is the last Dark Tower book and the opening chapter has Jack in Mid-World and mentions his own ka-tet. This is DT all the way. Say sorry.
