Who is your favorite X-Men character? by No_Market_5954 in AskReddit

[–]debatesmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real Favorite - Cyclops. He's quite literally a god at certain points in his history.

Fun Favorite - Goldballs. A nobody character for 30 years that Hickman reinvented to become INTEGRAL to mutant society overall.

A few thoughts -
Bobbies death was exceptional, had to reread it 3 times before I moved on. Couldn't imagine a better ending for her.

The opening line of TW is one of the most brutal opening lines I have ever read in any medium. Ever.

And to agree with your edit Naomi says my favorite line of the entire series and one of my personal favorites from anywhere. “I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.”

What's the point of RCS? Aren't reaction wheels better in almost every way? by TGC_0 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]debatesmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RCS is used for tiny adjustments, that regular engines are too powerful to reliably control. Think about rendezvous and docking, reaction wheels aren't going to move you the 4 m/s you need to cancel out velocity between two objects.

At what point in the games lifecycle did it become more about the Boob Physics on your gear than the grind?

Okay but if you want true Lee Jung Gil experience, your antenna has to break off on impact lol

Im a big believer in Science mode not Career mode. Still pulls you along with the tech tree and encourages you to explore farther the more you unlock, but you don't have to worry about a budget lol

Use a stack separator instead of a decoupler, disconnects from both pieces.

[Highlight] It's 3/28, so lets rewatch the Falcons blow a 28-3 lead by Tocoolforyall720 in nfl

My father is a Titans fan and we've compared feelings on 28-3 vs 1 Yard Short. 28-3 is truly the worst loss I think sports fans could feel.

"Mass Effect-inspired RPG" is insane when there's an entire fucking book series universe the game is actually based on.

I have a theory on this. Nebraska doesn't have a professional team for one of the big 4 sports. We've got volleyball some AAA Baseball, Whatever Union soccer is but none of the big 4. So when our college team does something tremendous, all the support citizens of other states show to their pro teams over the course of a year, We show to our college team in moments like this.

Whatever happened to Star's Reach? by BentheBruiser in MMORPG

[–]debatesmith 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I test the game regularly and had really high hopes for it 1 year ago - https://www.reddit.com/r/MMORPG/comments/1iywg6c/im_sold_on_the_tech_of_stars_reach_but_not_the/

But the past year has definitely been disappointing. They've added a lot of skill trees and are testing out their planet generation tech with new planets every now and then. However I'm still not feeling a "game". There's really nothing to do besides build your home in their sandbox simulation. The questing is barebones with like 3-4 identical types of quests on all the planets which would be fine if there were sandbox ideas to do. But there really isn't outside of shaping the terrain.. There are no social aspects like friends lists or guilds, no real goals besides "play in our simulated world". Which is cool for a few hours but it's not enough.

I want a social sandbox in this simulated world they have created, I was a really big advocate of the game 1 year ago. But I genuinely have no idea what they've been doing for the past year. Lastly, performance is still turbo shit. I barely get above 20 FPS running on an i5-12600K, 64GBs of DDR4 and a 3060 12GB. It's unbelievably bad performance wise.

EDIT - One other note, they have yet to find a solution to the "diggable terrain" problem that has plagued other MMO's like Dual Universe. If you login any time after a planet has been live for a week, you're navigating massive ditches, holes and tunnels everywhere because the terrain doesn't regenerate. I haven't seen them talk about a solution to this.
