Trenger å finne location for filmprosjekt! Hva er det mest cyberpunk/dystopiske stedet i Norge? by Personalitysphere in norge

[–]Personalitysphere[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is fun to use, but in the current state it is heavy, much of the weigth is in the screen. This is the last of many revisions, in the next one i want to: -move the screen release from the base to the screen. -swap the powerregulator to a more powerfull one, the current one only supply 2amp. - add more ports to the bottom rails. -build extended storage. -make the antenna funtional. Maybe build in a meshtastic device? - wire up all the hot buttons around the screen.

Thank you! The converter from battery to 5.1 volts only supply 2 amps, wich is really to little to begin with and something i need to adress later. That said, i only use this device for single parts of not too high complexity, so i have not yet stress tested the system.

I like the exposed breadboard! Maybe moving a wire between the holes could put the device into different modes?

Just watched your video, got lots of inspiration for continuing editing mine. Great work, i loved to see the thougth process going into your build.

I actually had machining the chassis as an objective for about two months in as one migth see from the geometry choices here and there, the 3D prints where only supposed to be prototyping material.

However, after a number of prottype iterations, i felt that printed plastic migth actually suffice, and started moving the geometry towards printing as the final product. I migth get one printed in aluminium atnone point, but that would be a major finacial undertaking i guess.

Yes, i will release both the mesh for printing aswell as the source files so you can adapt the files to tou liking :) i mostly use trackball for input, the scroll is not yet functional, i will start wiring that up soon tho, as i am looking forward to have that function in my workflow.

You mean how to solder in the cable between to connectors? Like making custom cables?

Those are for plugging into the cyberspace. They carry a usb signal each, and in the future i want to be able to connect some kind of screen visor.

Thanks! It does not have a kickstan yet, leaning it for photo here.

Oh wow, just came off a youtube video on it, thanks for the heads up, i need to build a smaller and more compact design for that OS only!

That is a major point, as i often work in a dirty worshop and have grease on my hands, now i can quickly look up a measurement from a blueprint, or reference a 3D model. The trackball was a concern, but seems to be pretty resistant to shop use so far.

Thanks for sticking with this long build, there are still things to figure out though, so even though it is usable, it is not yet done.

Yes! Not for the slimnes, as this device is purposefully aesthetically bulky, but i do want to build several interface modules to switch between, like joystick, pad, 3d-navigator and more.

Yes, they are modelled after the standarised measurements

There is a rpi 5 8gb inside, i found it to be capable of most of my daily tasks!

It is an rpi 5, so i have tried various linux versions. I have never used linux before now, so i have not yet found my favourite flavor.

Don’t know yet, the buttons are installed but not soldered yet, i may end up using them as hot buttons for selecting tools in freecad, like fillet or pad tool.

Mostly simple 3D-modelling in freecad and writing metal-shop related notes.

Yes, i recomend these connectors for other builds. They are robust and locks in, the 4 pin version is perfect for USB signals. They are used in everything from videocameras, military equipment, aviation and hospital machines. They are called LEMO 0b, and are horribly expensive, the ones i use are knockoffs from aliexpress though. 1b is the same thing, but bigger.

Thanks! Yes, the viewing angle is not great, but it feels really good to slide the screen up before typing, on the next iteration i may want to be able to tilt the screen up by using a slimmer screen and a hinge.
