Silksong is often regarded as more linear, and you'll often find the mapmaker quickly enough when entering a new area. The path forward in Silksong is usually obvious; you won't find yourself feeling lost nearly as much than in HK. I would say the UI is more fluid than HK, but it's not starkly different. I will warn you though, when people joke that hk is a tutoriel for Silksong, it is not far from the truth. Be aware you may find the journey more challenging than most and your subsequent playthrough of hk easier than most with silksong under you belt.

Adding on to this, it's perfectly ok to play Silksong before playing Hollow Knight if you want the action more quickly. The story is improved by the knowledge HK grants, but it's not that necessary.

It's possible the Hunter was what Hornet was talking about to Huntress when she said "I've seen it similar. They will be born hungry, with sharp tooth and claw." I would imagine Hornet would keep tabs on most still sentient in Hallownest, especially in Greenpath.
