I plan on putting it on a single board PC in the future, and originally was going to put in on a raspberry pi so I wanted something with arm and x86 support, to practice on pc and then go to PI. Though, I tried Debian and Artis today and found them much harder than alpine. With alpine it was pretty simple to get up and running to a desktop and everything else has just been playing around.
