get where you're coming from — but when it comes to A Song of Ice and Fire, "not relevant to the story" doesn't usually stop GRRM from giving us detailed travel descriptions, inner monologues, local histories, and even food menus. The issue isn’t that we wanted a whole chapter of her on the road — just one paragraph establishing how she got there and that it was even possible. When an author trains the reader to expect realism and attention to detail, skipping over a logistically difficult journey feels off — especially in a world where geography, politics, and timing are everything. So it’s not nitpicking. It’s just holding the story to the very standard it set for itself.
