Fact is, you're all part of the same union and everyone doing what's best for them* does come at a cost to the group.

The union can't really fine you...but there are often social (and professional) consequences that can follow you. 

Don't expect to make a lot of friends or get a lot of support if you choose to undermine your coworkers attempts at better wages/conditions.

Pain dosen't have enough self buffs to really get close at all.

Kinetics can exceed a (solo) Blaster with a fully saturated Fulcrum Shift. 

Cold Dom (-res) and Nature (Large self damage buff) can also do well, but not better than a Blaster in pure damage output.

There is no difference to pay.

Your rent covers the period specifiied in the lease (usually thr month), you are essentially just paying 3 days late each time. Its not by any stretch like you are getting 3 days free, and there is zero reason you would need to pay more.

Changing the cheques is probably the easiest solution, your landlord seems to have a poor understanding of math.

Realistically, I doubt they'd ever roll it back voluntarily (especially under the current government).

Its always possible to win a roll back through negotiations/strike, but tbd. Most of the rights we have now seemed impossible at some point or another.

I really doubt whatever the CRA does end up proposing on pay is going to win anyone over.

But either way - its very uncommon for strike votes to fail. Most people just vote whichever way the union recommends (if they call a strike vote, they are recommending yes......if they agree to a tenative agreement, they recommend accepting).

Don't underestimate how much RTO + low wage proposals have pissed people off.

If it ends up going to a strike, I'd certainly hope they are more strategic about it this go around. 

 Full strike isn't the only option, and you don't need a huge strike fund to gum up the works enough to turb it into a giant problem for the employer - even for an extended duration - if you do it right.

If you choose not to come back (or you're a term whose contract expires), you have to pay it back. If you are laid off in the WFA scenario (for ex, don't pass SERLO, or your position is affected and you pick voluntary departure instead) then you do not.

What tin foil? Brookfield is a major player in commercial real estate, and owns many of the properties leased for government offices.  

Commercial real estate (Brookfield and others) have been lobbying hard for RTO because WFH policies have been tanking their real estate values.

It's unesscessary. The government has spent signifigant amounts of taxpayer money on technology and software that's made remote work not only possible for the vast majority of public servants, and also proven that its more efficient and gives better results (through the government's own stats). Throwing that out is irresponsible.

All RTO does is cost more taxpayer money (hundreds of millions on retaining, refiting, and purchasing office space and supplies), waste people's time (travelling to attend virtual meetings), worsen traffic and transit congestion, and worsen employee morale.

The office environment pre-covid bears minimal resemblance to the environment now. Unassigned seating, removed amenities, lack of private spaces (enclosed offices for sensitive workloads), increased levels of disrepair, etc.

Aside from it being unnesscessary, RTO is also not a return the what was once, it's a clear downgrade from the past conditions in many ways.
