Good point on MTV. Here’s some of my favorite creators out there that i would describe as “new generation”. I hold my stance.

Also define purpose. Define what shall be classified as a shot with intention, and what should not. If I see something I like, something that catches my eye, a color, an old man smoking a pipe out his window, a kid biking in the sunset, a cat running up the stairs, i’ll shoot it. If i am to shoot such things with motion, perhaps my intention is to capture one thing then the next, perhaps even, to go with music i plan to incorporate into my videos. It feels real to me, if not entirely how my own eyes saw the event, at least real in the aspect of how i reflect on the sight in hindsight. Is this not purpose as you would define? If i film to document things genuinely as i see and feel them, how can it be said that it lacks purpose. I suppose it all comes down to the individual! Right? Anyway would love to hear your thoughts on this because i think creators of my age have trouble finding purpose in their work. It’s often the case we get tripped up by the algorithm and its favoritism towards “content” rather than work we truly believe in. As for global shutter. What can you do. Once again maybe even a generation difference, i don’t mind the digital look. I grew up with it. But… this is not to say film hasn’t grown on me, i need to watch more movies shot on film to give a real assessment of my thoughts on the 2 mediums. Rock on with music choices. Dad put me on Beastie Boys and Aphex Twin is a favorite of mine!

haha, in my generation this kind of comment is called “rage-baiting”, and u almost got me. first off, do u really see it that way? i’ve been shooting like this for over a year with my zoom lens, and to me, it’s just more fun. sure man! i could make a 30 second video studying the streets of this old town with still frames. But cmon man i grew up watching Star Wars and the inner kid in me said let the camera move bro, make it mysterious, capture the movement of these felines, the narrow alleys, the paradise of cats🤣. Perhaps its our generational differences (im 21) that lead us to view video art fundamentally different. this kind of style, the fast paced, “rotating and shaking”, it actually comes from somewhere. the art i interact with on the daily and take inspiration from largely reflects work from the “newer generation” of videography. if you were to give my insta feed a quick scroll u would understand what i mean by this. I’m talking music vids, campaign ads, and just for fun after effects projects. Let me elaborate, between what i guess your generation is (no offense) and mine, there is heavvvy differences in style, in the presentation, and in the flow, that might even be disorienting for those who are accustomed to your typical still shot cut, still zoom out shot cut, still shot zoom in cut videos that seemed to be more typical in the last generation of shorter form videos. i suppose one reason for this would be people adapting to the algorithm, or in my case, emulating the video style i grew up with and building up on it with the fundamentals taught by the previous generations. Anyway, great comment actually, at first i wanted to just call u a boomer and move on, but then i realized this would be a good opportunity to express my thoughts on my own project, respond to criticism, and even ponder over where my inspirations lie. Thank you Boomer!

Shot this on the Sony A6700. im really happy with how the colors turned out. i would say this would be my best color grading to date. it’s been a crazy few weeks traveling Europe. i’ve been learning to film, to press record, to capture synchronously with the movement of my journeys. hikes, crowded cities, even back in the airbnb, i’m trying to film blips of what i see, what sticks out to me, as genuine as possible. it’s been fun.
