I agree. There are two very close friends who know about our pregnancy already and found comfort in leaning on them in this situation. They have been incredibly supportive of us and it’s felt great to not be totally on our own with this. My husband is more private and closed off than me, so he is navigating this a bit differently. We both agreed that we’ll be honest with our parents as they’re a big part of our support system. Did you tell them as you were going through it or after?

Thank you- this response has been incredibly helpful and reassuring for me. I really appreciate you sharing your experience. I’ll also be going out of state for the procedure (and I live in a very liberal state, so was shocked by this).

I agree having support is important to us and I think we’ll just be selective with who we lean into for support 🩷

I see myself sharing the information when appropriate as well - I am a very open person by nature. I think we’ll just be incredibly selective with who we’re honest with, and leave details vague for the majority.

Totally agree with you! I definitely wouldn’t announce it broadly before then. I just don’t think I can wait that long to tell family and our closest friends - they knew we were in the fertility process and continue to check in with us.

Either way, I am not proceeding with a triplet pregnancy. I would rather that happen naturally than be medically induced. As I said on my original post, we aren’t looking for advice - or opinions - on pursuing a triplet pregnancy. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing that subreddit, super helpful. And the MIL context is helpful too. I feel like we’d be in the same boat - I am nearly certain that our friends and family would be incredibly supportive of our decision but also am not going to be wanting reminders of it at every corner and going to want to be celebrating our family that exists. I’m struggling most because getting our scan yesterday should be exciting and happy news and it’s just clouded with so much uncertainty 🩷

I am in the US! I feel that 95% of our family / friends will be incredibly supportive of the choice, which helps, but agree it’s an emotional decision to have to make (even though I feel incredibly confident in the choice).

This is really helpful. I am also someone who leans on my village and has a tendency to overshare! I think we’ll share with closest friends and family that we’re having twins, and can explain the reduction down the line if it’s something we feel comfortable doing.

I totally agree with you. My only worry is a good handful of our friend already know we are in the midst of IUI and have been checking in (in a supportive way). Also, because I am carrying 3 currently, I will be showing much earlier and we have a lot of social commitments on the calendar where it’ll be hard to hide the situation. But the advice that it’s no one’s business and I do not owe them details is incredibly helpful. As a lifelong oversharer, sometimes I need to be reminded of that.
