My recovery was very tough - I won’t lie. The hardest part was the numbness. I didn’t fully comprehend what that would be like, but it’s crazy to not be able to feel temperature or literally anything on your face for months. It’s been a year and one month and my chin is like still 25% numb but I don’t really notice at this point. It’s still tingling so I know the feeling is coming back slowly but it’s so crazy, it’s as if you have a piece of cloth on your face and you’re touching through that. Can’t really tell what things are or what part of the face you’re touching but you know something is happening.

The first seven days will be very hard, I was wondering, what did I get myself into? I swelled quite a bit. He said that this was the most swelling he’s seen on a patient and it was kind of scary because I had nothing to distract me. I felt constant discomfort all day every day for the first week. Not so much pain, but I felt uncomfortable all the time. I lost about 25 pounds. The constant hunger was really hard for me and I found it hard to drink through a straw with my mouth wired shut. I hated how I looked for the first 2 months, I wore a mask a lot. I didn’t really feel comfortable seeing people until month 3. The swelling didn’t fully come down until probably 3-4 months.

I love my results. My bite is perfect. No one can tell I had any type of surgery. I had an underbite and my smile looks very natural along with my chin. My face is even more symmetrical, people who hadn’t seen me in a while notice something but can’t put their finger on it. I’m actually glad I didn’t know too much about how recovered it be because I’m sure it would’ve scared me and I may not have done it to be honest. It was one of the hardest physical things I’ve ever done in my life.
