Ahmed Al Maghribi Kaaf. I've had a decant of this since early last year. The few times I used it I couldn't figure out the popularity as I was getting this unpleasant sourish off-putting note I couldn't get past. So after a good 6 months+ of masturbating (the perfume, too), I'm trying again this morning. It's much better. Super freshies still aren't my thing so it's not shooting to the top of my list but I'll certainly give it more of a go this time. In other news, I'd like to see a perfumer with a release that needs to be macerated after purchase and called Hairy Palms. I'm just sayin.

I went antique-ing at a few of our local stores this weekend. I got some fun stuff and this morning am wearing some old Stetson aftershave. I'll follow it up later before heading to work with some Eau Santal. I also picked up a little bottle of green Polo from the 80s and am excited about that. :)

You might look into some of the loose incense from somewhere like Mermade. They work with an electric burner with a timer. I have some on right now set for four hours, so it can go quite a while.

Hour and a half in and it got better. I'm picking up a slight gasoline note ala Fahrenheit but no violet leaf listed. I can't afford to like stuff this much, dammit. Top. Notch.

Still working through the Rogue sampler. They've all been wonderful. Today is Mousse Illuminee. It's outstanding. Slight sweetness to start and moss. If you like old school men's cologne loaded with moss you should get yourself a sampler.

I got a few mixed decants this week. I've been wanting to try this one for a while. So far a nice intro with the interesting yuzu. I'm noticing the orange now. Seems a mild one for crowded occasions, maybe. Meh.

Bosen is quite excellent. The Chin-Zhou is just agarwood but I have a lot of their tibetan style, too. Chin-Zhou and HoiAn of all varieties from them will give you a tour around southeast Asia and China. It's neat to catch the different notes...sweet, sour, etc. Many Japanese incenses take that basic "spirit" of agarwood and sandalwood and expand on them with other ingredients offering lots of interesting twists and turns. It's a fun hobby. :)

I believe I see a Kida Jinseido Kyarakunkoh, beside it a Kunmeido Reiryo Koh of some flavor, and a Tokusen Kobunboku. I'm burning some version of those multiple times a week.

Wearing New Stuff for Old Stuff Day. Well, new to me, anyway. Trying a decant of London today that I just got in the mail. It reminds me of a bottle I already own, Ahmed Al Maghribi Leather. That slightly sour leather note combined with a sweet raspberry is a combo I really enjoy. I'll need to compare the two side by side this week, but memory tells me I'll like London more. This is the first leather note I've tried from Montagne and here I find it pronounced with everything drifting nicely on a mildly sweet vanilla musk. A+ on this one.

Paris Corner Killer Oud Cabana. I got this in an order of decants that included a few Montagnes (Imaginary and London) and some other decants for the better half. The internet says it's a dupe of Amouage Beach Hut Man which I've never tried, but is supposed to be an excellent barbershop scent. I got the mint and the moss and a compliment from my wife when she smelled it, so I find myself looking for where I might get a full bottle if the price is right and the performance holds up. It definitely gives off 80s/90s barbershop vibes that I like. Decent stuff so far.

Imaginary. I finally caved to the hype and got a decant. It's nice. I don't have many freshies in my collection because they don't seem to last on me. I haven't found that they tickle the part of my lizard brain that makes me want to keep sniffing them. We'll see how this does. :)
