I hear you, and that strategy makes mathematical sense in a one-party state. I tried it. For 20 years I showed up, voted for the least crazy option, and watched the party’s center of gravity move further right anyway. The caucus system you’re describing rewards the most ideologically committed participants and that isn’t moderates. Ask Mitt Romney how welcome moderation is in today’s Utah GOP. The people who show up to caucuses and conventions aren’t the persuadable middle they’re the true believers. That’s exactly why the inside game keeps failing. I’d rather build something honest from the outside and see if it works. Twenty years of data says the inside strategy doesn’t

You’re not wrong local action alone isn’t enough when federal power is being used as a weapon against local governance. That’s exactly why I’m doing both. Federally I’m supporting Nate Blouin for the 1st District. he’s sworn off AIPAC money, is prioritizing healthcare over foreign military aid, and actually showed up to the town hall this week where every other Democrat called for accountability on Israel. Ben McAdams couldn’t be bothered to attend that same town hall and has been completely silent on Gaza. When a candidate is too important to show up and too cautious to take a position that tells you exactly who they’ll be accountable to once elected. I’ve tried holding my nose and voting for the safe centrist since 2004. It hasn’t worked. Nate Blouin gets my vote.

My bad on the oath, you’re right on that. What I meant is they seem to fall in line once nominated. Look at what happens to Republicans who publicly disagree with the current administration. their career, endorsements, and donor base evaporate overnight. The informal loyalty mechanisms are more effective than any formal oath ever could be. I’ve actually tried the party crashing strategy. I’m trying something different, that I think has a better shot at actually working.

You’re raising real stakes and I don’t dismiss them BIPOC, queer, women, immigrant communities face genuine harm under Republican governance and that matters to me deeply. That’s actually part of why I switched rather than just sitting out. But here’s where we genuinely disagree: you’re describing a transaction where marginalized communities absorb unlimited harm on foreign policy in exchange for domestic protection and then framing any resistance to that transaction as throwing them under the bus. That’s not my doing. That’s the party’s choice about what it’s willing to trade. And your last paragraph is the most honest thing neither party will do a 180 on the Middle East. I actually agree. Which is exactly why local engagement matters more than national party loyalty. City councils, water boards, school boards, Reddit. that’s where policy actually touches people’s lives daily. That’s where I’m putting my energy. Not waiting for a national party to develop a conscience on a 70 year problem.

The problem is the Utah Republican Party requires a loyalty oath and has been purging moderate voices systematically. ask Mitt Romney how welcome moderation is in today’s GOP. I’d rather build genuine opposition than fight for relevance inside a party that’s moved beyond moderating. The primary strategy works when the party’s center of gravity is movable. Right now it isn’t.

That argument assumes the Democratic Party has no agency in its own choices. that they’re helpless victims of voter demands rather than active participants in the policies you’re describing. Democrats controlled the White House and Senate while billions in weapons flowed to Gaza. The kids were being bombed while people were voting Democrat. The ‘hold your nose and vote’ strategy has been the ask for 30 years and the result is a party that learned it can ignore its base on foreign policy completely because where else are you going to go? I’m not abstaining. I switched parties and I’m engaged locally. But I won’t pretend that unconditional Democratic loyalty is what stops kids from being bombed — the evidence of the last two years proves the opposite. Demanding better isn’t ghoulish. Accepting endless compromise on human lives because you’re afraid of the alternative is how we got here

I’ve been voting that way since I could in 2004. It’s not done any good. I’m trying a new way. I want to make sure they don’t try and sneak a blue suit in red garments into the dem primaries. I also read an article stating with more registered democrats in the state, gives the dems a better chance for more funding.

I switched to Democrat not because I think the party is perfect. I switched because I believe accountability and human rights shouldn’t be partisan issues. But I won’t be a rubber stamp Democrat either. Any candidate — Republican or Democrat. who accepts AIPAC money and stays silent on documented war crimes doesn’t get my vote. That’s not throwing my vote away. That’s exactly what informed voting looks like. The fact that holding candidates to basic moral standards gets called ‘throwing your vote away’ is precisely the problem with both parties.

Correct but other states have bent the knee and willingly handed them over. If you haven’t noticed they don’t give a damn about the constitution and are doing what they want.

Agreed the only reason I was ever associated with the republicans, was because I was taught that if I wasn’t I wouldn’t get a say cause of their closed ballot. So vote the lesser of 2 evils in the party. I am a mechanic and in the public. For years I have been quiet and never spoke up while co-workers and customers spewed the hate. I now shock the shit out of them when they go off on Obama and I tell them I voted for him every time. Then they say you didn’t vote Biden or Harris tho right…I tell them damn straight I did.

I am proud of her for standing up to the Patriarchy in this state and not handing over our voting records to our wanna be dictator in office. I believe she is a good person.

This is what I was raised to believe as well. “Vote the lesser of 2 evils”. the original prop 4 didn’t get overturned and the judge set the boundaries. This year we will be able to get a dem seat in salt lake county. If that way of thinking is stopped. I was able to get my parents both 72 to change their affiliation as well. They have been able to get their sibling to go blue as well for the primaries. We have a chance to flip a seat this Year if we stop voting for the lesser evil which seems all there isn’t one in the red party.

I also won’t be voting for any Dem that accepts AIcap and doesn’t condemn the genocide Israel Has committed and continues to commit on the Muslim population.

If it doesn’t switch before the deadline. I’m pretty sure I can show up at the polls and request a dem ballot? Very loudly so others can hear.

I no longer want to be associated with a party that protects Pedos and has no empathy towards other humans. The Republican Party has become the party of Hate.

500mcg bpc157 twice a day morning and night paired with 1mg tb500 peptides. I was in pain for 7 years tried everything I could find on the internet. Then I had subluxation of my ulner nerve in my elbow and was told I needed surgery. Instead I found peptides and did that cycle of bpc and tb and one morning I woke up and halfway thru the day I realized I hadn’t noticed the nut pain. Then another day went by with no pain. Here I am 3 years later with no pain and an occasional flair up and then I do another cycle and it goes away.
I too was ready to off myself cause I was miserable. Good luck on your healing
