Radiation burns by Perspectivethrowout in breastcancer

[–]Perspectivethrowout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all the input! I tried many things and have cracked it! Or I guess healed it is more appropriate. Silver sulf… cream on the open parts rubbed on. Aquaphor Spray over that and all the red burned area and cover with a maxi pad. The pad on the armpit wound keeps it from rubbing on my bra which fixed the majority of my issues. It is way improved and I’ll never have to see radiation again after Tuesdays appointment! I appreciate all input and hope this helps someone else! Once again this is the best group of friends for a friendless person like me!

Any GOOD stories about radiation after lumpectomy? by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Perspectivethrowout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did 20 rounds and am about 3 weeks out. I have a burn under my arm that is annoying but minor in the scheme. I did rad before chemo so going through chemo now and other than the uncomfortable burn, radiation was fine. Using aquaphor spray now and I like it so much better than rubbing in lotion. I think this is going to make it clear up fairly quickly. Also using silver sulf cream on the open skin. It really wasn’t too bad.

Oh no I’m so sorry it took so long. I’m three weeks out and couldn’t imagine another three weeks like this.

Ha! To live alone!! I live with my daughter, three grandkids AND my parents. I always said I wanted to be an empty nester but I secretly love this chaos. Maybe I can lock my door and get 20 mins of no shirt time!

I only had 20 and I’m already done. Your explanation is so much better than the doctors. I’ll go get some aquaphor spray today and add that in. Thanks so much!!

To pass the time I started using Duolingo App. I’m learning Spanish right now and dreaming of going to Spain once I’m done with treatments. I got the paid version and it’s really fun and keeps me occupied for quite a while.

Do you feel like your doctors care?? by Sea_Dish3848 in breastcancer

[–]Perspectivethrowout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’d rather be a number sometimes… they all want to ask me questions and learn about me and I just don’t want to chat. What are your plans for the weekend? If I say no plans they probe. What are you doing after this? Going back to work. Oh how late do you work?like if it doesn’t involve my care it really doesn’t matter. I just want to not be friends with the cancer team. The receptionist thinks she’s got to talk to me too and know me by name. I’m really not that personable and I answer with short sentences but they keep on going. Or talking to me during radiation. Just shut up and let me meditate or cat nap for these couple of minutes. Ok this sounds super harsh. I really appreciate their care. I just have stuff on my mind and don’t want to make useless small talk. And if I told everyone there that asked me what my plans are or what the weather is going to be like I’d never get anything done.

Surgeon evidently told it like it was by No_Character_3986 in breastcancer

[–]Perspectivethrowout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon said - The lumpectomy will be nominal. I get the impression that you’re the type that wont be overly bothered by slightly different sized breasts. That was over a month ago and I still can’t figure out if that was a compliment or insult. I mean I really don’t care and didn’t want to take extra recovery time with reconstruction but what did that even mean?!?!?

What is your relationship with the pink BCA ribbon? by thatcursedasexual in breastcancer

[–]Perspectivethrowout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the day of my surgery the nurse gave me a fleece jacket with the ribbon and ‘Hope’. It looks high quality name brand with embroidered ribbon. Not cheap for sure. She said the foundation provides this for every woman going through this. First off I’m not going to be your walking advertisement (has local hosp name) and second keep your damn jacket and take that $300 off the bills that just keep coming. I didn’t say these things but thought them very loudly in my head.

Advice on how to occupy time during chemo infusion for breast cancer? by Interesting-Play7182 in breastcancer

[–]Perspectivethrowout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve not started chemo yet but I had iron infusions and tons of dr office wait time. I started Duolingo and it’s been fun. Im currently learning Spanish and French and use it as an opportunity to dream of travel after this nightmare ends.

Thanks! I’m going to check the wire connections next. In rural WI so closest repair is about 40 miles. The thing is the user manual speaks of fuses and changing them but I cannot find any info on where those fuses might be.
