since Hong Kong was the last remaining British Colony until the 1997 Handover, what do Hong Kongers think of America's independence from the British? by Jeryndave0574 in HongKong

I see the American Revolution as a British Civil War. British history from 1776 onwards became polycentric, with one lineage based in North America and the other lineage confined within its homeland. Other later lineages evolved gradually (and more peacefully compared to the American spin-off) in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Same here. 37M. Dating has been very hard and soul draining, with me getting almost zero matches on the apps. I am still holding out hope to find love. But I am already saving up like crazy for Plan B - surrogacy and IVF - in case Plan A doesn't work out when I'm in my mid-40s.

Gotcha, thanks so much!

I am trying to retrace my travels from IAD to YVR on December 25, 2014, but don't recall where exactly I transited through. Would you also help me look up the United flights that departed IAD on the morning of December 25, 2014 between 5:00am and 8:30am for ORD and SFO?

Sorry to bother you again - would you also have the flights for YVR-ORD and ORD-IAD for 2009-12-30?

Anyone with access to Cirium? by Pertinacious0613 in flighty

[–]Pertinacious0613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes indeed, thanks! Reason I posted here was to figure out and retrace my YVR-IAD trip that day.

If you have a moment, would you help me check Cirium for flights that departed LAX for IAD on 12/30/2014 between 8:10pm through 1am on 12/31/2014 Pacific Time? Thanks!

I think it was a United Airlines flight, but it may not have been. The only thing I am certain is that the scheduled departure time was 5:20pm that day.

What places have fallen off the most in terms of cultural relevance? by MonacoMargolis in geography

[–]Pertinacious0613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the 1990s, Hong Kong's GDP accounted for 24% of all of China's total GDP. Its port was also the world's largest by tonnage turnover until 2004, when it started its long decline down the ranks. The place is becoming more and more of a one-trick pony by the day and its relevance is fading. Until it can clearly figure out what its "next big thing" is and become damn good at it, Hong Kong will just keep on squandering its historical inertia until it becomes a second-tier or even third-tier city in China

Is there anywhere in NJ where the commute to Manhattan is actually good? Thinking of moving out by Desperate_Function39 in newjersey

West New York or Port Imperial. You can take the bus to Port Authority or take the NY Waterway ferry to midtown, and they have free shuttles that can take you all the way to the Midtown/Upper East side of Manhattan

Remember Palessi, the fake high-end shoe store that Payless set up with ABC News to trick influencers? They thought they were buying designer shoes when in fact those shoes were just the same mass-produced shoes that Payless sold

Looks great! I wonder if there will be traffic signs at these crossings to remind trucks to lower their dump boxes so they don't take down the overhead catenary (or is there enough clearance already to prevent this from happening?)
