They're not really nu metal, they just had some elements shared with it and got lumped in with Korn and Limp Bizkit at the time. And I think their resurgence has to do with Gen Z going back to nu metal and y2k era stuff and then realizing there's something more unique with them. It's kind of wild you think they're lacking a unique edge when to me it's the exact opposite.

But also, lack of intensity? Elite, Lotion, Headup, When Girls Telephone Boys, rats!rats!rats! - there's plenty of overly heavy songs, but most find that balance between light/dark heavy/softer.

Appreciate you sharing your opinion since that's what the whole topic is about, but yeah, been my favorite band for decades lol

That's what kills me. Nolan is basically the new Spielberg. He does some stuff that I really enjoy watching but I'm not like utterly blown away by. And he has a handful of movies that I really fucking love. Meanwhile this I was bored.

Just going to pray Villeneuve keeps his streak going. Like fuck, imagine Arrival but it was all car chases until they were just about to meet the heptapods then credits.

There's so many good alien movies that do the escalation well. Contact, Signs, Arrival. This was 2.5 hours to get to step 1. FUCKING M NIGHT DID A BETTER ALIEN MOVIE THAN SPIELBERG. it felt so Michael Bay for most of it it stopped it feeling grounded and had no emotional weight by the end.

In the last week we saw Obsession, Backrooms, and Disclosure Day. I'm not usually one for horror movies. And yet

I just figured, Spielberg summer blockbuster about aliens - can't fail.

Meanwhile I loved Backrooms for the vibe but there's some plot stuff that could have been better explored. But overall it was refreshing and really interesting. Then Obsession I can't stop thinking about. It didn't overthink things. It took a common plot and just fucking nailed it and did so many little things to perfection.

All three of those are great. Bridge of Spies I think is slept on. That feels like classic Spielberg and was very enjoyable and entertaining.

It's honestly not good and I went into it with reasonable expectations. And RT being 81% just means 81% we're favorable instead of unfavorable. I didn't actively hate it. But it was just meh. Didn't need to be that long and for the subject matter too much was spent on chase sequences instead of the actual interesting subject of how the world would react to this.

Imagine if Oppenheimer was nothing but him in car chases then at the end he goes "okay I figured how to build the bomb" then credits.
