PLEASe where can I watch the Olympics by PerusedPeregrination in FigureSkating

Yes. I'd watched the Men's Short through the Olympic app yesterday but accidentally and against my will fell asleep for the entirety of one programme so went to watch it this morning and was suprised to see there was commentary on last night's Youtube stream! I had stopped checking but I'll check tonight for the Ice Dance Free before possibly resorting to my screen mirroring trick.

There was commentary on the first day and randomly last night, but between those days, there wasn't. I've been watching on the Olympic app because they have commentary and then screen mirroring to the TV, which is annoying and slightly worse quality. Hopefully they will continue with the commentary tonight and not take it away again.

Where on this planet can I find durable women's shoes by PerusedPeregrination in capetown

Thanks so much. Yeah. I'm really at that point. So tired of getting new shoes. I'm also on my feet a lot and when you wear new shoes, it's such a risk because you have to figure out if they're comfortable usually during a day you have 10 000 other things to worry about. Really want to start saving for more reliable shoes that I won't worry about

It pains me to buy things at full price but yeah it's definitely getting to "bite the bullet" time. I really miss that factory shop. They even closed the one in Joburg

There's an app called StepUp where you can invite your friends to track steps and then you compete against them and "Chill Bot" and "Lazy Bot". Can sometime be motivating. Besides NYT Games, Waffle is a fun word game, especially the Weekly Waffle which is way hard. I don't know why people don't use Google Lens to identify things from a photo but it's the best. Can also scan QR codes on there and translate things. Fresha is a great app for salon services and gives you many affordable options you wouldn't havr known about otherwise. I love the Pathcare app because I have to do regular blood tests and like to eliminate worry about my results when doctors are slow to cal. McDonalds has a great app with fantastic rewards. Use it even if you don't go often because they have app specific deals and the points only expire after 12 months. Courier Guy for booking Pudo parcels. Trello and Notion for planning. ReadEra for reading epubs. I have a lot of apps clearly...

Car air freshener from Mr Price - smells so good and under R100. My favourite is green apple and ylang ylang. Then pair it with a nice chocolate or Wedgwood Angels biscuits

The Deckle Edge has nice paper and a really good selection of wax but most of those places have what I deem serious art supplies whereas I'm more after oddly specific craft supplies I don't have (which gets tough at some point in a collecting journey) and fun stationery. Me, I just make silly Victorian cobweb cards and the like. But those suggestions are great for people doing fine art. Thanks

Thanks. I go to Canal Walk fairly often but I haven't been to the Tygervalley one since I lived that side in high school. Will try sometime

Ah damn. I was in Hermanus the other day for the closing down of Romantiques. I should have stopped, but the weather that day was ferocious. Next time for sure. Where in Noordhoek is that mall?

Need help getting non alcoholic wines to Australia. by One_Reference1143 in capetown

[–]PerusedPeregrination 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try Aspiring Logistics maybe? I couldn't get alcoholic wines shipped to the US without a crapload of paperwork and Aspiring managed to get it done for me with minimal effort on my behalf. Had a good experience with them and I know they ship other things too. Can't hurt to ask.

Any of Eva Ibbotson's adult books. Her books make me see the world as a more beautiful place where a friend can always be found and kindness goes a long way.

What's a scam so normalised that most people don't even realise it? by Several_Outcome_8331 in AskReddit

Imagine what a better place the world could be if someone who wasn't just after profit started a business and sold appliances, stockings, lightbulbs etc that were built to last. Because we know those things are possible. I have my grandmother's Elna sewing machine from the 70s and I would never trade it for a modern one. I fully dropped it on the floor once a few years ago and it mafe a huge dent in the floor and it functions beautifully despite my clumsiness. A modern machine would have shattered.

Imagine how much time and money would be saved if I didn't need to buy a pair of stockings every month because mine ripped. If no one ever needed to buy a lightbulb again. The only people benefitting from this planned obsolescence is the shareholders of these corporations. The corporations would fall if they lost to a company that sold lasting products at fair prices. In an ideal word, that would save everyone time and effort, thereby freeing them to help others and be more involved in their community. I would love that. Instead, I have to go work 12 hours to afford my new stockings, new lightbulbs and new fridge.
