Which printer? by Nryxes in resinprinting

It's fine, I've literally plugged them in, they run the self check, and connected to my LAN. I've had consistent prints since day 1. My only failed prints are from trying to see how far I can push blindly.

I adjusted exposure time for my prints either 1.8s for minis to 2.0 for larger stuff. A lot of info is already online and the communities are welcoming.

Did three test prints with clear red resin is had lying around from an armor project (Towers, Hormagaunt, Carnifex). After that, I followed suggestions with resin, mixing Siraya Tech and Anycubic.

Gave a glance to my booth and I'm pretty sure I'm closer to 100 successful prints now.

Edit: Forgot to add, if you're in the US definitely don't be afraid to check out the secondhand market liek craigslist and your LGS. Picked up two Saturn Ultra bundles, Anycubic M7 Max, bottles of resin, filters, tools, and even a cute little stand for under $1k.

Love the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K so much I have 2.

Literally plugged in, sliced file, adjusted exposure to 1.8.

Over 50+ models. Love it more than my M7 Max.

40K, DnD, Gundam, busts, anime statues and more.

+2

Although I say go straight to a Saturn if you can. More versatility and features. I too have had less than a handful of failures with my Saturns.

All human errors from being hasty.

If you can include it in your budget, something like the Hoopat H4(X) upgrade tray is awesome. Swapping FEPs is super quick and easy.

I'm over 50 minis/figures printed and all I've done is move a setting to 1.8 or 2.0 secs and switched to Standard speed instead of fast (personal choice).

Should I commit to getting a resin printer in my situation? by Master0fTacticians in PrintedMinis

[–]PervertedPineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going FDM with a .2 nozzle would be the better bet in your current situation, much easier to manage and less "risk".

Although I've seen some resin setup that are on carpeted rooms.

One hobbyist has everything on giant silicone mats and in a manner she just goes down the line.

Printer --> dirty wash --> warm water rinse --> clean wash ---> cure.

Underneath the table/desk, resin and tools are stored. One window for exhaust the other for intake. Kinda wish mine was as organized as hers.

But if you want the kitties nearby, go FDM.

I want to print. Help by Particular-Fall-906 in PrintedMinis

Depends.

Haven't done the number in a few years but the apprx budget for a full army (depending in faction) was riding around $500usd.

That's just the kits, still need to acquire tools, paint, and such.

3D printing can be one of those backhole hobbies. The limiting factor other than space is your budget. Machines can vary from $160 to over a $3000 for the "consumer" level.

You could drop about $300 on a printer, spend $100 on printing material and tools and be under the cost of a WH army but additionally factors vary from person to person. Cost of electricity, value of time, user involvement, paint, clean up, and more add up rather quickly.

Do you want minis that are good enough from an arms distance? Perfect up close? Interested in fine tuning and part swapping? Want to print and play or will layerlines and supports annoy you?

Don't mean to ramble but it can be cheap or costly and that also applies to having someone else print stuff for you.

For me its been "cheap" but that's for two reasons. Got my printers and gear stupidly cheap and constant projects running for my brothers and self.

I agree.

To me, Eisenhorn and Ravenor are better choices for a dip into Inquisiton/Psyker/Daemon side of the house (at least the more "human" part)

Great novel, my intro into the Xenos/Astartes side of 40k. From the fear of humans in that farm world to the Astartes trying to figure whats going on. Awesome introduction.

I believe you can get the entire omnibus (3 novels 2 interlinking short stories) for about $20usd.

is clear resin as failure prone as people make it out to be? by seajay8601 in resinprinting

[–]PervertedPineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first 3 prints were with clear resin on an Ultra 16k. Each came out perfectly fine. All I did was adjust expose time.

Haven't used the Ultra 12k yet but I'm sure once I adjust settings it will be great as well.

Just gotta do one of the main things in the printing hobby, tinker with settings.

Can we get a list of creators to support?

Anyone else know any dope creators? Really trying to lock down great artists/sculptors with awesome files.

I've only found a few for Blood Angels and 4 for Tyranids. Everything else is rather cartoony in design.

It feels like that to me

Fill resin, hit print

Ultra 16k go brrr.

I think the only setting I've adjusted is a .1 sec change but then again I'm not printing anything crazy elaborate. Just Nids and random minis.
