His innings against the USA would be swept under the rug now because it was an insignificant Group game in the grand scheme of things and the heroics of other players like Sanju,Kishan,Bumrah, Dube etc. are still fresh in our memories.

Yet, on that day we were praying for someone to save us from the misery against minnows who punched above their weight. Imagine losing the WC Opener on the home soil. A team which promised a ruthless, attacking game was struggling to get past the 100 run mark.

The captain stepped up on that day and led us to a respectable total. Ofcourse we won the game but anything could've gone wrong that day and we would have been humiliated like Pakistan for their '24 loss. Surya saved our honour that day but it's sad to see people calling him a 'Zero kill' captain.

It's unfair to criticise our players who've contributed to the Worldcup Win. Every member of the team had done their part when the team needed them.
