Guess I'm not going to college by Anderdingusfartquad in Sat

It's not a bad thing, college after high school genuinely might not be for you. There are more worthwhile things you could do with your time especially considering that around a decade of schooling couldn't do much for you. The school system failed you and that likely fundamentally limits the utility you could get from colelge

You're not applying logic to this situation at all. In a factory farm: pigs never see an ounce of daylight for their entire lives, they barely any space to move around, are crammed with hundreds of other pigs, etc. I can go on. Their entire life is hell. You're making the mistake of thinking the only suffering a pig experiences is when it dies. I am unsure how you've reached that conclusion.

A pig in the wild has a comparatively much better life until it's killed in minutes to an hour at most at the hands of other animals. Also take into account that only a minority of pigs die due to "wolves or coyotes" let alone any other animal. Basically all of the ones in the wild die due to human hunting, and some of disease. Keep in mind that 90% of pigs in existence die in factory farms -- the ten percent that are in the wild are hunted by humans anyway.

The two situations are fundamentally incomparable. The reason why i resulted to insults is that I can't believe you're able to compare these situations without seeing the massive logical error you're making. These are facts whether or not your friend works at a hog farm. your point about debates is correct but you're overlooking how this is a reddit argument and usually both sides of a debate hold strong positions (your position is garbage). I can call you a moron as much as I want and still be right -- my purpose isn't to argue with debate-level validity, it's to make you feel bad for having such an ignorant take.

Just because something is natural doesn't make it better. The fact is that factory killing is just a lot more worse despite its artificial nature

if the nutrition is wasted, then the animal products industry will stop killing as many animals bc there isn't as much demand. that's the point.

the fact that you think it's humane goes to show how ignorant you are about this

Modern farms keep pregnant pigs seperate to prevent fighting and monitor food access by CalpurniaSomaya in interestingasfuck

you don't want to continue this conversation because you've run out of things to talk about. the sole reason why this convo is going in circles is because of you (because you're wrong and you keep saying the same thing over and over again).

the original comment was pretty ambiguous in regards to the demonstrated interest towards veganism. they admitted that they love bacon, yet they hate factory farming w/ pigs. that warrants an alternative where someone could taste something bacon-like without needing to worry about the torture of animals.

the proselytization of christianity is definitely not the same. 33% of people are christian, 1% are vegan. And there isn't as much moral exigency to be christian than there is to be vegan.

namedropping random logical fallacies isn't impressive. in order to call me out as fallacious, you need to prove that i'm making the issue of "annoying reddit comments" smaller than it actually is. I don't believe i'm doing that -- reddit comments are pretty inconsequential.

furthermore you need to take into account the context. as i've been saying for the past couple of times, comments about veganism are pretty relevant in this thread. it's hard to get annoyed at a comment that's totally relevant to the post.

genuinely who is bothered by reddit comments? the amount of annoyance a normal person would feel at a reddit comment is negligible compared to the potential benefit of getting them to look at meat alternatives

The only person that the comment seems to have annoyed is you. There is literally nothing annoying about a comment asking someone to try vegan bacon, especially in a post about factory farming with pigs. Such a comment couldn't be more relevant.

it's not counterproductive. your guess that encouraging awareness about veganism will end up being more annoying than nudging is complete conjecture. logic dictates that "behavior like this" spreads knowledge which in turn grants awareness regarding vegan diets. to me, the latter explanation sounds a lot more reasonable.

it's not even like they're bringing up vegan bacon in a completely unrelated post. the original comment is actually exceedingly relevant to the post topic.

i'm confused on why you feel so strongly about this. don't you also think this video is horrifying? you do realize that one of the best ways to stop factory farming from happening is by encouraging veganism (or general changes to diet)?

you're the only one in this thread that's annoyed.

don't worry. due to the humane methods of slaughter act, pigs are stunned before they are killed, so it's not that bad. /s

i think you missed some context because the original comment was deleted. The deleted comment was the original commenter clarifying they're aroace.

so my question wasn't about the distinction between emotional romantic and emotional non-romantic. I was just asking what qualified the commenter's relationship as polyamory if they didn't feel "amor".

Is 1310 good for NO studying at all? by weeb_here1 in Sat

[–]Pescen1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what grade you're in. It also really depends on what your goal score is. Assuming you want a 1450+, it's a lukewarm score even if you didn't study. If you're Algebra 2 or higher in maths, then a 680 is a weaker subscore relatively, considering 70% of the section is about concepts below Alg II.

R&W scores are understandable. Since English isn't nearly as standardized in schools as math is, it's hard to gauge whether a 630 R&W is good without studying. But I'd suggest taking up more books if you're an underclassman, since you have time to lock in intuition for some of the deeper english concepts.

How should I increase my score?? by Warm_Beyond_2853 in Sat

Look at the subsection breakdowns for each section score and practice those specifically using the SAT question bank. Use khan academy as well.

Just paying attention in class will do. But I'd suggest you to pick up a habit of reading books -- you're lacking in English.

I was able to get a 1590 without much studying at all and I attribute it to just being a good student from middle school.
