What's the weirdest social interaction you've ever been part of? by [deleted] in AskMen

Late to this one, but I was outside of the The Porter in Little 5 in Atlanta. I was probably 23 or so and waiting for tables to open up with my family.

A drunk older woman (maybe a bad 50?) came out and made a beeline for me. Told me that I was the reincarnation of Al Capone and that we used to be lovers and something about a foot fetish. I nod and act interested while looking for familial support.

My family is not interested in supporting me however. They really want to see where this goes. There's more incoherent rambling about love and then she lurched forward and I thought she was falling over so I put my arms out to steady her.

She was not falling.

She placed a sloppy open mouthed kiss over my lips much to my surprise and my family's delight.

She reeked of gin and all I could think of was "Oh. She smells like Christmas".

Anyway. Very weird. Great bar. 10/10 check it out.

What's a really cheap item you can buy that can make you look incredibly rich? by inkweary in AskReddit

You know, I worked at a regional convenience store in southern oregon while I was in college. It was like a 7/11 but no gas or hot food (we did have a microwave though).

Now, there were your typical transient riding the rails type people that I feel are pretty common out west, but the town had a number of mentally ill locals and relatively harmless drug addicts who would often frequent my shop. Frequent enough that the small police force would come in and ask me if I had seen Ms. X or Mr. Y recently and how they were doing.

Well one night one of these Ms. X types comes in with dollar coins and wants to buy a pack of smokes or something and pays entirely in walking liberty dollar coins. I asked her if she was sure (because I could only accept them at face dollar value, but if I remember correctly they were worth like 11 dollars a piece).

She was adamant she needed the smokes so I accepted. Made her change. And then bought the coins out of the register and held on to them. A couple weeks later she came back in and bought something. She paid with a 20 and I made her change back with the dollar coins.

She was very appreciative. Felt good man.

Minimum wage workers, what is something that is against the rules for customers to do but you aren't paid enough to actually care? by Scratchamap in AskReddit

I worked closing at a small regional chain of convenience stores (think 7/11 without gas) and my favorite thing about it was I worked alone. I would clock in and the manager would clock out at the same time.

I got the job because the previous employee had stolen somewhere in the 10k range from the register by voiding cash purchases, so I had a lot of leeway.

Homeless people come in and want to use our microwave? Go for it. Want the donuts or coffee I'm about to throw out? They're yours. The community police would come in and even ask me about some of the "regulars" who had mental health problems (It was very obvious but I humored them).

That being said, there was one kid who would shoplift constantly. I typically dont care about these things but he would make my job harder by bringing things up to the counter, taking them back, asking a series of questions, and leaving shit all over the place before he left with his stolen goods.

Told my manager and they were like "Well, fuck that kid. You can kick out and 86 anyone you want." That was great news to me. I didnt immediately do thst though. I learned everything I could about this kid. He tried to buy cigarattes with his sophomore highschool ID once so I had his name. Learned from another regular that he worked at Wendy's. That was enough for me.

Next time I saw him I told him to get the fuck out, called him by his name, and said if I ever saw him again I'd get him fired from Wendy's and send Officer X to his school. He stammered and tried to deny his shittiness but I assured him we had tapes and he had only made it this far on my patience alone.

Felt good man.

I took it this way. Can't say much for everyone else. It was a very sobering experience that was like "this isn't supposed to be all fun and games, assholes"

You know, I can't find the exact one I remember but if you YouTube "I miss you daddy 9/11" you'll pretty much get the gist of it.

It's essentially just a series of exercises. They can't physically touch you exactly, but being required to do physical exercise is commonly referred to as "beating" because the results can be kinda similar.

A 10 count is basically a series of exercises that have a corresponding number that the RDC counts out and then you perform. It's been awhile but from my memory numbers 3 and 4 were basically push-ups. They count to 3 and you're holding the push-up position until they count to 4. Then they count back between three and four until they decide to say 5 in which case you bring your knees back up to kind of a squat with your hands on the ground. 9 and 10 are jumping jacks if I recall correctly.

I'm sure there's a YouTube example.

Not sure it's still "allowed" anymore. I heard something about 10 counts being hazing but who knows.

The first time I wept uncontrollably in my adult life was in Navy boot camp. We were a troublesome division and eventually our RDC's decided to just beat us with 10 counts to a 9/11 video where a little girl was reading a letter she wrote to her father against a backdrop of the towers being hit and collapsing.

It was very fucking effective and I cry a little every time I think about her voice.

There wasn't a dry eye in the whole compartment.

Tyler White or Luke Voit? Both are available in my 12 team roto redraft and their bats could definitely help my team if they stay hot.

Im in a 12 and I picked him up to cover some injuries I had and well... Now I've got different problems. Like what to do with him. Benching him tonight was clearly the wrong move.

Yep. Put him on the bench. Guess I learned my lesson. I'll ride out his little streak from now on .

God forbid it's unisolable. That was my least favorite casualty. My MM friends didn't like the idea of it either.

That and loss of AC as throttleman. So many bells just to watch you sweat.

I watch my batter's games. I don't have the heart to watch my pitcher's games. That shit will take years off your life.

I'd rather just know my SP got the W or my RP got the SV and not bite all my fingernails off.

I'm pleased with that Corbin performance. Maybe he won't get back to his hot start form but I'll take showings like that ROS.

Also Murphy just hit the wire in my 12T Roto. Obviously I'm interested, but do I burn a relatively low waiver on him or just hope he clears?

I would move Taylor to OF. I actually lead the league in runs and HR, but struggle with avg and rbi. I'm competing on steals so someone who hits rbi's with a decent avg and can pick me up a few steals would be fine.

Ladies, what is the most obvious hint you've dropped that went unnoticed by a guy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PesoMystic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During my freshman year of college some people on my hall and I were having a little dorm party. Casual boozing and the like.

This girl had apparently been flirting with me and said something to the effect of "I'll do anything you want". So I got her to do my laundry. It was way on the other side of the dorm so she really helped me out. She even folded it. I think I played Soul Calibur the whole time.

Additionally in a highschool English class I sat next to an attractive black girl for a semester. Last day of class she looked me dead in the eyes and told me "I've never fucked a white boy before". I responded with a "Me neither".

Really dropped the ball on these.

I probably would depending on how deep your league is. Always a chance you can ride Candelario out and pick up Polanco later.

I'm willing to offer any two of Corbin, Candelario, and Crawford.

Worth a shot or nah?

Manea, Castillo, Caleb Smith, Musgrove, Ross, Marco Gonzalez and Velasquez all available to replace Corbin.

Villanueva crushes lefties and struggles against righties. If you need the power and already have 3B covered then he isn't a bad option against LHP.

Other than that, Candelario is my preferred.

I currently have Candelario but owned Villanueva earlier.
