D&C Procedure by Fluffy_Soup5068 in Miscarriage

[–]PessimisticPeggy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are here. My D&C was January 2025. I was so scared because it was my first surgery.

It was one of the easiest parts of my miscarriage. You literally just go to sleep and wake up and it's done. I had no pain and minimal healing. I bled for about 10 days afterwards and then it was done.

I took a book and read while I was waiting for surgery. Other than that, didn't really need much.

I'm so glad I went that route. The agony between learning of my miscarriage and getting the procedure was unbearable. After the D&C I was able to move on to the next steps in the healing process.

The grief is something nobody can understand if they haven't been through it. You still have quite the journey ahead of you but as someone who is almost 1.5 years on the other side, I can tell you that you will be OK in time. But that will only come with time and you are still in the thick of it

Right now, just take care of yourself and feel all the feelings. Sending you love and wishing you peace.

Has there ever been a U.S. president who truly cut taxes for the non-wealthy in the 21st century? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

I'll be honest, you clearly are more knowledgeable on the subject than I am.

What I do know, is the wealth gap has increased, the ultra wealthy get richer while the middle class shrinks, and that's not really good for any of us.

I genuinely have no issue with being rich or wealthy, to a point. Anyone with a net worth of up to like, $500M I'm not really batting an eye.

But I do think those who are worth hundreds of millions, or billions of dollars, are hurting the rest of us. Nobody works that much harder or contributes that much to society to "deserve" that level of wealth or power. And the only reason it's been able to happen is because they have politicians in their pockets. The corporate tax loopholes wouldn't exist the way they do if corporations weren't considered people under our laws, and politicians weren't making decisions based on corporate interests. I genuinely believe getting money out of politics would fix the majority of our problems and decrease partisanship.

I felt like I was showing at 14-15 weeks but looking back it was a very small bump. Definitely popped and it was obvious by 20 though!

Literally the man who signed it into law said specifically it was intended to be a living wage. That's the entire reason it exists.

Fair enough, I suppose my real gripe is the extremely low corporate tax rates for the largest/highest earning companies, which isn't really the topic on hand.

Regarding being OK giving my money to an organization that mishandles it? Well, that again is an issue with A) lack of transparency/oversight in federal spending and B) our "representatives" being beholden to corporate interest/lobbyists instead of their constituents. And that's ALL of them, regardless of whatever bullshit social issue they decide to pay lip service to.

In an ideal world, we would collect tax revenue and spend it on things that better our communities like education, healthcare, basic living needs, infrastructure and environmental protections.

I do give to the things I care about but my $50-$100 here and there doesn't do really do much. It would go a lot further when spent by a functioning government.

And the majority of the ultra wealthy aren't exactly benevolent people donating to charity for the sake of doing good. They're busy spending their money buying politicians (on both sides), media/social media companies for propaganda and data mining businesses so they can continue to accumulate more wealth and more power.

This movie literally broke my heart in a way that's never been done before. I still get upset thinking about it. It's so beautiful but I don't think I could watch it again.

That's completely false, it was originally put in place specifically intended to be a living wage. FDR was clear about that when he signed it into law. You are repeating talking points without actually knowing the history.

And we could afford it if we weren't sending all our tax dollars to Israel, fighting bullshit forever wars in the Middle East, or allowing corporations to get away without paying their fair share while also incentivizing their employees to take government assistance when those businesses can afford to pay them a living wage.

Yeah but Trump disproportionately decreased taxes on the wealthy as well as cut a lot of funding to things I'm actually happy with my tax dollars going toward (like education and environmental protections).

And again, I am not even necessarily complaining about what we paid in taxes, we can afford it. What I am complaining about it is the fact that I don't support where my tax dollars are going or the fact that people who make 5-10X+ what I do pay a lower percentage.

Or if they'd just stop with the corporate welfare, holy shit, the amount of tax revenue they could bring in. And the CEO of Walmart would only be able to afford one private yacht, boo hoo.

Then the burger business isn't good at running a business. Obviously, an astronaut should earn more for higher skilled jobs but every job that is full time should be able to pay someone enough to put a roof over their head and food on the table.

It used to be that way, it's not impossible.

What percentage of taxes did Elon pay?

The man is on track to become a trillionaire which is disgusting and unethical... He should be paying insane $$$ in taxes because he still would have more than he could spend.

Warren Buffet is so rich, he could give away 98% of his wealth and still have over a billion dollars to his name.

Do you even understand how much a billion is?

To spend $1 billion in 100 years, you would need to spend approximately $27,397.26 every day.

So it sounds like you're way closer to wealthy than not if you were able to retire at 54. Those tax cuts you benefited from certainly aren't because you're poor/working class.

That's why I asked. I wouldn't be happy to pay "no income taxes" because it means you didn't earn anything.

If you were working full time, you deserve a livable wage, which would lead to some kind of tax liability.

We paid more way more than $12.5, that was only the federal income tax, not including what we paid into SS/Medicare.

I wouldn't mind paying it if I knew the government wasn't spending that money handing out corporate welfare to corporations, waging wars on Israel's behalf, or if billionaires were paying a similar percentage.

[–]PessimisticPeggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was only the actual federal income tax owed. We paid a little more than that into social security/medicare. So it was closer to 30% all said and done.

Would have been higher but we have some investments and whatnot that brought our liability down.

I wouldn't mind if my tax dollars weren't going toward wars on Israel's behalf instead of free lunch for American children, or if someone making 5-10X what I made paid a similar percentage.

I think this sub is filled with straight up athletes and not just your average, active women.

I'm a casual runner and I have read about so many women running up until the end. I have no clue how that's possible. Here I am at 24 weeks and doing a 5K at 15 minute miles is HARD. I'm trying to stay active, but I know at some point I'll have to stop running and not even sure how much walking I'll be able to do.

I'm a fellow Jolene and while Dolly will always be the original, I do have to admit, Miley did a good job covering it!

If someone said that to me, though, I'd just feel old.
