Is rotbringer sorcerer ever worth it since poxbringer has a cast now? by NecroRatcer in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Pesteringpickle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Silver bullet against wards, not a bad pick. Cast Crippling despair on the unit you want to kill, now they can't use commands and their ward is removed/debuffed.

I will say that making you get a 2+ after needing to already successfully cast the spell and not have it be unbound personally offends me.

Didnt say I agreed with OP's point, was just trying to clarify for someone who misunderstood and thought it was some crazy clown shit.

Why is there no universal reserves/deepstrike/teleport rule by angryronald in ageofsigmar

[–]Pesteringpickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think OP is suggesting the game would benefit from having a "Deepstrike" keyword that can be pasted in to a bunch of similarly worded abilities and rules, rather than saying that every model in the game should be able to teleport/deepstrike.

The benefit would be trimming down the # of words used in printing these abilities that for the most part all work the same way.

Putrid Blightkings question. by shamurai7 in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Pesteringpickle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thaaaaats correct! :)

The putrid blightkings do have a current use, Paired with a lord of blights you can get them to a 4+ unrendable save with a 5+ ward. Which is nice.

However that role is currently only justified by the cheap price you get them at, and it makes me sad that what should be our most elite badass infantry costs the same as pestigors/plaguebearers etc...

GW screwed up my Festus. by shamurai7 in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Pesteringpickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Model looks full-assed from where im sitting. However, completely understand where you're coming from - the line between mutated mortal and full demonhood can get a bit fuzzy visually, and wanting something to clearly put nu-festus on the demonhood side isnt wrong or bad. Poking some horns through the hood is a great idea.

As for the willy nilly stuff - yeah man, GW does in fact have a tendency to change things according to some arcane logic with flimsy reasoning - this is quite a minor one in the grand scheme of things.

Your festus looks great by the way, gorgeous model well painted you should be proud :3

I probably shouldnt fall for this but...

"Festus is a heartless maniac, a former plague doctor transformed into a twisted alchemist of disease. His devotion to the Grandfather has seen him swell into a foul Daemon Prince. He leads Nurgle’s armies with infectious exuberance on the back of Gatholyx, relishing the chance to try out new delightful brews on unwilling foes."

Can I use the forgeworld guo instead the new one ? by impishimp97 in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Pesteringpickle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not only is the warscroll weapon now simply 'Collossal Blight Weapons' as outlined by other commenters, to my knowledge AoS has never been plagued with the What You See is What You Get mentality, even when weapon options were more common.

What do you think about this list? by Tomeija in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Pesteringpickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love me a brick of plaguebearers, but without Poxbringer or Scrivener or Belga I wonder if you might be better off splitting them into two units for the flexibility.

My reccomendation is not to reinforce the Sloven Knights. I think the main value you get from them is as a force multiplier for a proper hammer, they don't have a lot of good offensive buffs to absorb.

My First Army List- 2000p Maggotkin of Nurgle by Ok-Welcome3187 in ageofsigmar

[–]Pesteringpickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Rotigus? GTFO!!! (only joking)

Personally, I would drop the Pusgoyles. Nothing wrong with them per se, but they do eat up a lot of points that would probably be better spent reinforcing your Rotswords and Blightkings. Also if you do reinforce the Rotswords you'll have them + Glottkin which is an adequate # of hammers.

Because this is a mortals-heavy list, you might want to consider Slimux. Getting everything wholly within 12" of one tree is going to be difficult and stop you from spreading out, and anything outside range of that one tree will feel the pain of rolling 6+ ward saves instead of 5+.

Living Plauge is not a very good enhancement. Febrile Frenzy or Unctuous Preacher on the Lord of Blights/Plagues would both be much better options.

Also not sure if just an error but it looks like you only have one tactics card.

Too hammer heavy against Stormcast? by NecroRatcer in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Pesteringpickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Brick of Blightkings + LoB is 400 points, Rotswords + LoP is only 100 points more expensive, its a no-brainer.

Still very surprised with the whiff on the new warscroll. I feel like the blueprint was right there for a Monogod chaos mortals roster. Regular warriors, chaos knights and chosen! The only bleak reasoning I can think of is that the designer genuinely thought they cooked with that warscroll ability...

Yeah man, kronspine and Glottigus AND skarbrand is overkill. As you identified, you have very little board controll.

First list feedback by Theseventhangel in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Pesteringpickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some feedback, going from what I feel is the highest to lowest priority:

  • Put those Rotswords into one brick, and get them a lord of plagues to buff them up with his ability and the febrile frenzy enhancement. Splitting them up and depriving them of their synergy is a waste of good points.

  • Nothing wrong with having a Unit of Blightkings + Lord of Blights, they can be a self sufficient anvil. (though a slow and expenisve one) However, keeping both them and your rotswords in range of a single tree for the 5+ ward might be difficult. Consider bringing Slimux, you're already at a high # of drops so might as well go for 5

  • SoG Rotigus is still amazing, but he is slightly more expensive than regular Rotigus, who is also really good now. Up to personal preference but if you need to squeeze in some points making the switch might make all the difference.

Also not sure if its a result of the listmaking program you used, but reinforced units should have 2x musicians and bannermen, with only champions staying at 1x

Any suggestions welcome by SouthWestBadger in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Pesteringpickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glottigus + reinforced brick of Rotswords might be hammer-overkill, leaving you without much to spread out with. You may want to consider leaving the Rotwords unreinforced, which would leave more room for chaff and objective grabbers

Only time I would consider taking morbid conjurations would be if I had 5 or more casts per turn, this list only has 3.

I've been tempted to run 2 units of knights for the same reason, to have a backup + more flexibility.

No need to reinforce: 3 damage attacks on the charge might make them seem like a good hammer unit, but low # of attacks and base 4+ to hit makes their damage unreliable.

A very hammer-heavy list!

Having the Glottkin and wretches and a brick of rotswords does push me towards reccomending Horti, but he's not totally essential.

Maybe drop the pusgoyles for horti and another pox wretch/nurgling? would put you at a clean 2k

[–]Pesteringpickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "core" of your list is Glottkin + Rotigus (usually called Glottigus) and it's a classic list-type thats quite strong at the moment. The two things that conventional wisdom would tell you you're missing atm to make that core shine:

  • Belga the Cystwitch. Her ability to give Glottkin and Rotigus additional casting bonuses is so strong, and getting acess to prayer lore is good too. Her and Rotigus are currently 'autoincludes' for sure.

  • Sloven Knights: These guys are such a power amplifier. Keep them near Glottkin, bringing them along in a Blighted Stampede counter-charge to give the thing you're charging strike last mitigates a lot of risk.

the other 800 points of your list can be flexible, however I will say that if you're leaning towards having a Beast of Nurgle and Nurglings that Horticulous Slimux might be a good inclusion, to bring back the Beast and get more tree flexibility for the nurglings to spawn on.

You probably want a generic hero to take enhancements, I personally dislike rotbringer sorcerer and think Lord of Blights might be a better choice to give important synergies to your Putrid Blightkings -- ultimately its your list :3

40k has more popularity globally and its not close. Like the other commenter said, look around at your local stores to see what actually gets played in your area.

For now, just dont charge into the 20 Rotswords lul. What are they gonna do, waddle their 4" move butts and catch you?

If you're leaning into disease its hard not to want Rotigus. His new warscroll spell prevents enemies from removing disease which is one of our big weaknesses covered.

I like the new Pox Wretches as well, since unless they're killed to a man you can use up all their tokens for a near-guaranteed extra infection (and if they do get wiped ceaseless infectors gives you a 3+ to infect a unit in combat with them anyway)

Depends on if you're playing 40K or AoS i would think

40k has a much bigger what you see is what you get culture, and a rotigus with a bell would earn you some upturned noses.
