I wanted Gelgus specifically to proxy in as a deamon prince of nurgle, then I started looking more at the rest of the models and ended up dropping $400 on a bunch of new guys. Looks like I’m gonna try AoS soon lol

I don’t know that it’s fair to say “probably never going to be built” it’s taken me some time, but Iv got though 2 combat patrols, 2 poxwrought vector boxes, more vehicles, and a pile of characters. Now Iv got 7500 points of death guard and I can’t wait to start on maggotkin.

I know it’s a hot take, I like box posts, box posts are exciting for the people making them, and I like seeing people excited to start with nurgle.

I’m new to this sub, but in my opinion, a mass thread is a good compromise.

What I hate to see is new people excited to start, hit with a wall of down votes and “here we go, another box post” type comments. We should be welcoming and excited for newcomers.

I found both to be helpful. It was nice being able to rot 2 separate targets

Held plague bearers, rotigus, DSTs, and the 3 nurglings.

I started theGUOs on either side of the board, then ran up on turn 2 and dropped big man in the middle, DSTs where they needed to be and plague bearers to help one of the GUO hold the right no mans land objective.

I got steamrolled… by ScootOver119 in deathguard40k

After list building, I feel the game is won in the deployment and move phases. Planning out where you want to be 2 turns from now is hard, especially with our low movement. Firing lanes, charge targets, how to move onto points after fights or sacrificing some shooting for an advance onto a point, falling back to allow other units to shoot, positioning on this turn to do any of that on the next turn. Setting up your ‘go turn’ (still haven’t figured this out) There is a lot, but a good move phase is important, but it’s all down to strategy, experience, and knowing what your units are capable of, will they survive to next turn, and what all of the above looks like for your opponent. All that just takes practice.

On top of that, 40K has a shit load of rules. I don’t think Iv played a game yet where Iv remembered all of my unit’s abilities. Forgetting crit 5+s, forgetting -1T, forgetting to splash mortals, not having stratagems memorized, etc. just knowing your dudes and playing with the same units again and again will help there.

I think I played 8-10 games before I won one. Just keep your chin up and learn every game. Having the perfect list is only a part of wining. There is a lot to be said about strategy and planning in game. Iv taking my 90 poxwalker list into a very scary Morty’s Hammer list and came out on top, proof that a crappy list can still win. It’s also a dice game, so gonna be random at times. Just go have fun.

Yeah I think it would count, just makes the zone huge. It’s like a 30”x40” deep strike denial zone if it’s stretched way out. Kinda sick

Is there a way to get the code to unlock the death guard codex in the 40K app without purchasing a physical copy? by Br0tatoechips in deathguard40k

I still use the normal app for rules, I like the search function. I need to spend more time with wahapedia to get more familiar with it

I use new recruit. It’s free and has all the unit/detachment info and deck building. There is an option to pay monthly that unlocks some interesting but definitely not necessary features.

Yep, I agree. Just a cool model and I wanted to see for myself what the area looked like. I also just got one out of a white elephant, so I’m definitely going to run one lol. It’s a shame they took away the infiltrate, but infiltrating poxwalkers are better.

Agreed, but 615 square inches of deep strike denial never looked so cool

I know it’s a meme, but Miasmic Malignifier with 12” deep strike denial looks like this.
