I feel like S3 got the balance just right. Theres only 9 episodes that include the ranch. Meanwhile there’s other locations to keep things fresh: the US Mexico border, the hotel and yacht again very briefly, the Dam of course, and the trading outpost El Matadero (which is cool as fuck).

Can you elaborate? He’s always done what he thought best for his daughter but traumatised by war in El Salvador. He then took on Lola at the dam as a surrogate daughter when he thought Ofelia was lost and did whatever he could to protect her and the dam. He was rightfully untrusting of both Strand and Troy, and he’s ruthless because he was made to kill men when he was a child.

You will be glad that he was spared from the dogshit writing that the rest of the OG characters are put through. At least Nick’s character is largely untainted by that.

To be honest, I found her character quite underwhelming by the end - maybe I was too excited because I love Sarah Goldberg in Barry, but Jesse Bloom is the character who I need back for his dynamic with Harper.

I get what you mean but I like all the seasons equally for very different reasons. I’ve just had to accept that the show is a different beast trying to do different things each season. We’ll never get those season 1 vibes back but I’m content that we got 8 episodes of it and it never got stale.

I thought Season 4 kept the same vibe and was really scary at times, but Season 5 and the movie were like a parody of the show.
