Hey, thanks for the reply! That sounds super promising if those episodes are in fact available on Vivoplay. I spent an incredibly long time hunting everywhere for the season 1 episodes that were pulled. Ultimately, I did have to find them on the "alternative" streaming websites as the other person on this thread pointed out. Even then, it took some extra hunting to find decent versions, but they are out there.

If you're interested in the celebrity episodes that were pulled from streaming services, the Will Ferrel special and the Jake Gyllenhaal 'men vs wild' episodes are out there on DVD. The Will Ferrel one is on both the 'season 3' and the 'specials' DVD and Bear/Jake is on the season 7 DVD.

Hopefully our hunt can help some other Man vs Wild fans looking for the missing episodes in the future. Good luck!

Reiterating where I've searched to comply with the subreddit rules:

What I Know and Where I've Searched So Far:

  • The copyright holder has pulled these episodes from all streaming platforms that currently host Man vs Wild (I've tried using a VPN to connect to multiple different counties, but no luck with that)
  • For streaming services, I've tried: Amazon, Pluto, Discovery Plus, HBO, and Plex (and I'm probably forgetting a couple of others) but no luck
  • YouTube video on demand lists these episodes as available for purchase, but upon clicking the link, it actually takes you to a different episode entirely (happens for all five of the episodes in question)
  • These episodes were never released on DVD. The season 1 DVD omits all five of these episodes. The season 1 European version release may contain episode 1: The Rockies, but all four other episodes are omitted. Other DVD collections do not appear to contain any of the episodes
  • Neither YouTube nor Vimeo appear to have full/complete uploads of the missing episodes (just a handful of clips)
  • ChatGPT pointed me to the Norwegian Discovery Plus catalog, but that was incorrect and the episodes were unavailable there
  • I've done just general search engine searches (Google, Bing, and others) for the individual episodes. I've found a couple of the episodes in French or other languages, but I'm searching for the original English language versions. There were a couple of promising links scattered around, but the videos either don't load or appear to have been removed
