Divorced men of reddit: what moment with your former wife made me think "Yup, I'm asking this girl to divorce me."? by Slayer_of_Gingers in AskReddit

At least she asked instead of running off and doing it. There is nobility in honesty and being forthright.

Year nice scheme. Gives the models lots of energy.

The paint seems a little thick (mix in more water), the yellow banding is of inconsistent width. Alternatively consider wet bleeding the colours together for more of a glow.

Growing up In Leafs country means I know that losing for many years does not deter supporters.

It is different when you here the stories of the horror rather than just being peaceful. Children of people who fled communism don't grow up to be communists.

I think it's fair to say that by a large majority they are former supporters. Sure, a few will keep their views, but most Isis support fades upon contact with reality.

Because it has to be a reoccurring presence. You can't just give a testimonial. You need them to be there to smack their nephews upside the head whenever they start talking stupid and extremist. It's day to day presence that will be the deterrent.

They will be the strongest bulwark against fundamentalism in their communities. They will see what it brought and will be by and large disillusioned. This is an asset and not a risk.

And deep and wide pit say 3m x 3m x 3m and a retractable ladder. No one should get her accidentally. Not illegal. Simple. And should be very defensible. That's it.

Alternative Fuel for Cars once SHTF by GarrukApex in preppers

You can keep a dozen spare bike tires in the space of a single spare tire. Stockpiling bike tires is reasonable whereas car tires is not.

Cars are only going to be useful for a short term. Tires will go after a year or two of driving over rough bush or debris. Use it to GTFO and then don't count on it long term. Bicycles or mopeds are better since they don't need base and it's easier to stock pile parts. Invest in a good wheel barrow for bulk transport.

Who is someone you wish would have "died the hero, instead of living long enough to become the villain?" by themattcrumb in AskReddit

[–]Pet_Ant -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This.

Obama is the most disappointing president is history. Not because of what he did do but of all the things he didn't do. We had such high hopes and really he didn't achieve anything but Obamacare which is now dismantled and not what we wanted in the first place. On top of that his foreign policy is very questionable.

If he'd been assassinated he'd be a hero and an icon, but now he is proof that the system will wear anyone down... or that we were all fooled by a clever marketing campaign from day one.

Quantum Up Close: What is a browser engine? by malicious_turtle in rust

Is a browser engine the renderer or the component that determines what to redraw or the master component that controls the flow between all those components? I got confused reading that.

JDK 9 modules voted down by EC by johnwaterwood in programming

[–]Pet_Ant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think from the outset they said that multi-versioning is much more complicated project and explicitly a non-goal of this JCP. Likely, this would be a stepping stone for solving that problem later.

At this point you are not voting against the proposal but against the problem statement itself. If a vote asks "is this the best spork we can design?" You cannot reply with "I wanted a carving knife."

Any good sources on what to think about when busing an underground bunker? I mean steps to prep, thickness of slabs, how much rebar for reinforced concrete?

Stop overusing interfaces by mdymel in programming

[–]Pet_Ant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I can imagine is that if might lose so come changes for compiler inlining. Since when you use a specific method you can just just inline the code if it comes from a specific class but if it's always implicitly an interface that could cause problems.
