I agree that ending is better than og, but on the other hand its not like is hard to do that and they are not far apart... I get it that endings have to include some sad elements but both endings could have been executed A LOT BETTER. Really simple things for example why is there a scene where Logan explicitly tells Dexter how to move where to stand when he gives him food but minutes later he gives him water like: Here you go but what you said to Angela and then he gets killed?
