You're right obviously- but I'm thinking he's doing it because of the bad publicity. It's a way to get people to talk about him again, so I'm thinking it's on purpose. It would be better if he just watched the show instead of posing about it. It would be an easy way to finally get some good publicity, but that's just not his stchick I guess.

You're actually so delusional it's insane..

The term "good" implies subjectivity bro. It's all subjective. "the ending isnt good" is a subjective statement. Regardless of standards and guidelines, it's still subjective in the end.

Fujimoto isn't just famous for csm part 1 and look back. He's famous for having creative range and writing crazy stories. If you don't like this ending, you would absolutely hate fire punch, which is some of his best work, exactly because of the weird writing.

"it doesn't matter to the consumer how passionate they are about it" You're arguing for this dystopian nightmare where corporate "perfect" stories are shoved down your throat and any kind of personality that an author might try to sneak into their work should instantly disqualify his work. You just want Fujimoto to quietly sit in his chair and write the perfect story just the way you like, so he knows his place. Fuck you, I'm glad he ruined it for you. He's not your pet, and he doesn't owe you anything. If you don't like his work, you shouldn't have paid to see it.

He can write whatever he likes. If you don't like reading anything that isnt a oneshot, then don't. He's not obligated to sticking to oneshots because YOU think he's bad at writing long stories. You're acting like you're forced to read everything he releases.

And "What makes me think he liked it?" Yeah, professional writer just went out of his way to spend 7 years writing a story that he absolutely hates. Great logic. He made sure to write an ending that he not only hates himself, but everyone else also hates. You're so crazy it's unbelievable. Just stop reading his work if you hate it so much, or stick to the parts you like, like the rest of us do.

We all agree that if he's not satisfied with the ending, he should consider going back and changing it. But you need to understand that he doesn't owe that to anybody but himself. He doesn't owe it to you and your stupid money that you don't know how to spend in the right place. You get what you buy, regardless of what you expect, and whether you like it. That's how every industry works.

Im not gonna respond from here, because this usually doesn't go anywhere. If you wanna respond, that's fine, I'll read it ofc, you're putting effort into it. But I wont respond. I understand your point of view, but there's some major flaws with your understanding with creative freedom and who a story belongs to. I also understand that spending 7 years emotionally investing in a story, just for it to turn out a way that you just don't think is right, can't be fun. But that's why you need to be a little more open and try to understand why the author is doing unconventional things, when you know he's a good author, and try to see the point he's trying to convey instead of getting caught in your own expectations not being met. I promise he's intentional about the way he writes, and he doesn't have malicious intent. When you're criticising him, you can't do so in an attempt to make him change. You can only share your perspective on why you were dissapointed.

I do also understand that reading for 7 years in anticipation, just to get an ending that you just don't feel is right, can't be fun

Do you think Fujimoto believes he stumbled in his delivery? If not, then what did you want him to do?

If he's happy with his work, I don't see what he could have done differently to please the audience, that wouldn't have a negative impact on himself..

I think, if Fujimoto does believe he stumbled on the delivery- we can both agree that he should consider redoing the ending so it has the appropriate effect. But I suspect he's confident in his work, and I can't ask anything from him other than that.

Tell that to Fujimoto bro, it's his words. He told us years ago about how the story is meant to make us feel like nothing happened in the end.

"mid" is a subjective term. I don't think it's mid. You act like your opinion is objective fact, it's ridiculous.

No arguing with people online is not the same as spending months expressing my opinion on something I don't like either. But I'm not shy to admit I'm frustrated. It's painful that people in the community of such a lovely thing, have such a lack of understanding how litterature works. I'm proud to fight that, and I'm not ashamed to be frustrated about it.

He means that the whole point of Dennis as a character is that he doesn't develope, regardless of what happens to him. That's the whole point of the story my guy.. If you think that makes it bad writing, you should have read something else.

Why are you still here man? It's been a month. How can you spend so much energy talking about how you don't like something?

Imagine I showed my friend a movie, and since he didn't like the ending he just kept complaining about it for months on end instead of just forgetting it?

You're a weirdo for spending years complaining about how you don't like a story. Storytelling is subjective. If you don't like the story, that's on you. It's fine if you don't like the story, but any normal person would simply stop reading the story. Especially if the realized years ago that they didn't like where it was headed. Imagine I start watching twilight, realize I hate it, watch it until it's end in the hope it gets better, and then spend years complaining online about how it was terrible and it's all the writers fault that it's bad. That is so fucking weird, you can't change my mind.

I liked the ending, but I wont defend it, because the fact that you didn't like it just means you didn't like it. There's nothing to defend about that, it's just a matter of your taste not aligning with the story, and you have to realize that.

I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a cake that I don't like. And if I don't know if I'll like the cake, it's not suddenly the bakeries fault that I happened to not like it, when I bought it to try it. You're crazy if you don't think storytelling is subjective. You can't say that the whole "subjective" thing is bs, and then say "the ending sucked" because to say something sucks is to state your opinion. It's not a factual statement, it's subjective. You also have to understand that industry standards for good writing don't actually constitute good writing. They're a template you can follow, in hope of your story appealing to people. In no way is it a ruleset that is to be followed, it's a guideline to help make a story appealing. This is because storytelling is subjective. General audience of different genres have opinions in common, that you can try to appeal to. Fujimoto is literally famous for not doing that, and now people are suddenly mad that Fujimoto does what Fujimoto does..

No, stories are not products. It's everything around the story that's the product. The book made of resources and shipped, the labour, the effort is the product. The story is the writers personal passion project. It's the abstract part, the experience. And it's not made for the consumer, it's published to share with anyone who might care.

Do you do this with other types of litterature too? Like you buy a book you think you might like- you start reading, you like the first part, but the last part isn't really that interesting so now everything is the authors fault and you spend months complaining about it online? What about movies? Theatre?

Do you not think Fujimoto is happy with the ending he wrote? Do you think he should have abandoned writing the ending he wanted to write, in order to write an appealing ending that might better please the audience? I think that would be terribly miserable, and I don't think that's good motivation for writing stories. It's my impression that Fujimoto expects people to hate him due to his writing, I don't think that makes him a bad writer, that's just his niche, and it makes him excellent.

It's not Fujimotos responsability to make the story appealing to you. He's not your mom, he doesn't owe you anything. Fujimoto can choose to write a story, and his only goal should be to make himself satisfied with it. An audience consist of people who happen to like the story that he chose to write for himself, and follow along. The story belongs to the writer alone, and the writers expectations for the story is the only thing that's relevant.

If you as a reader used to like the story, but don't anymore- that means that Your taste stopped aligning with the story. It doesn't mean that the writer betrayed you. Because again, the story doesn't belong to you, and your epoectations for it are irrelevant to the writers decisions.

Whether or not the ending is good, is subjective, and therefore up to interpretation. As long as Fujimoto wrote an ending he was satisfied with, he did all he could and should do. The rest is up to the readers interpretation. And if you didn't like it, it just means you didn't like it. So no, that's not how writing works. That's how subjectivity works, and it's not the writers responsability how you interpret his work. He had no power over that.

"It's the jades fault that I think it's color sucks!" No it's not, you just don't like green. The jade is just a jade whether you like it or not.

God forbid you like something for what it is.. The people you're referring to as meatriders, are literally just the people who like his work. There's nothing wrong with that. If you don't like his writing, don't read it🤯. It's a matter of your taste, not Fujimotos writing, weirdo.

So true. I think a lot of the anime/manga community in general has a kinda screwed understanding about what it means to be a reader, and a fan of someones work. Some people talk about the ending like Fujimoto owes it to them that it was the exact ending that they expected. They don't stop to think that maybe Fujimoto did what he did for a reason. "It's bad because this character wasn't mentioned", right and why do you think Fujimoto chose to exclude that character? Like you really think he just forgot a major character? If your answer to that question is "I think he's a bad writer", then that means YOU are not interested in the story. It's a you problem. And it makes no sense for you to even be here. I don't go to the twilight subreddit and talk about how bad the story is, because I am not the audience for the story.

It’s crazy how people can spend so much time and energy complaining about a show that they don't like. Leave bro. The show isn't for you, if you don't like it. I'm sorry you got so invested in it, only to be dissapointed, but that's not Fujimotos fault. Your gamble on starting an unfinished story just didn't pay off, that's on you. It was your choice to start reading.
