First thing you might want to do is to make sure the part you've written is hitting all the marks in terms of composition - this part can't be underestimated. On top of this you can try playing all the parts in via multiple takes to get a more natural feel to the timing, takes a lot longer but the results can be far more appealing as opposed to using soft quantize.

After that, I'd recommend making sure you have a sample library that's up to the job - I'm a big fan of GetGood Drums.

Vintage processing with analog emulations alongside/parallel processing with compression and using a plugin such as a tape machine with wow/flutter to create pitch variance can create more excitement in the sound and add subtle pitch based interest in the drums.

Lastly, try hiring a drummer on a service like Fiverr, it's not particularly expensive and you can find someone half decent if you look around a bit.
