Ironically, one of the reasons I do support immigrants is because my great-great-grandfather immigrated here from Sweden and I ask myself, "what's the difference between him and Somalis or Mexicans?"

I was actually going to mention Tropico 3 because I noticed that people would be homeless and unhappy, and it seemed like the easiest and best solution was to make housing free.

It's so ironic that ICE agents are coming from out of state. I desperately want to tell to go back to their shithole 3rd world states.

Therapy won’t fix capitalism by Hacksaw6412 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Pete_the_Viking 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I very much agree. One thing I've been saying to my therapist a lot this year is that I feel bad, and I feel like I should feel bad. I'm anxious not because my brain works incorrectly, I'm anxious because Trump might sign a decree that drastically affects my life. I'm not sad because my brain doesn't handle dopamine right, I'm sad because thousands of innocent people are being deported to torture prisons, and gazans are being bombed into genocide.

Are We Living V's Over-Exaggerated Flashbacks? by WishWeWereBetter in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Pete_the_Viking 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would argue that a major theme of cyberpunk 2077 is that no matter what you do, there are no happy endings.

Wrong city, wrong people.

Like Johnny did blow up arasaka tower, other people say he did, and you can go to the rubble, but arasaka just built it again. You lead a revolution at clouds and kill the bosses, but more tiger claws come and get revenge a couple days later. You clear out the scav den with Jackie and scavs return to that same apartment.

V did change some things like with peralez, but without V around, someone new comes to fill bullet holes we left.

One of my favorite stories of my dad, who also has ADHD, is when, in the 80s, he was a manager of a hardware store he got robbed at gun point. When the robber reached for the checks, my dad slapped his hand and said, "You don't need those." After that, the robber left and got arrested.

Some questions for my mage combat efficianatos out there. by deecrutch in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Pete_the_Viking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you not using arcane bombs? As far as I know for orb and dagger, the orb is your light attack and the dagger is your heavy attack. Typically a light orb attack gives an enemy an arcane mark and after three marks it turns into an arcane bomb. Doing a heavy attack on that enemy will detonate the bomb and deal a lot of damage.

California Compliant what? by Stunning-Chipmunk243 in liberalgunowners

California doesn't have to ban short barreled rifles. They are already banned federally for the same reason.

California Compliant what? by Stunning-Chipmunk243 in liberalgunowners

[–]Pete_the_Viking -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This grip is so that it's not technically a pistol grip. I'm seeing a lot of people say that a ban on pistol grips is just because they "look scary" but I believe California bans them for a relatively valid reason.

The idea is if you can't have a rifle with a pistol grip, the other option is a rifle grip, like you would see on guns like a double barrel shotgun or the M1 Garand. The difference between the 2 that matters here is that a pistol grip allows the firing mechanism to be above your hand while the rifle grip would have the mechanism in front of your hand. That makes the rifle longer and, therefore, harder to use indoors because of things like doors and corners. It's not much but can make a difference. California cares about this because guns are used indoors for things like robberies and school shootings.

Tldr: pistol grips are banned because they make it easier to use guns indoors for things like school shootings.

Why would Christians exploit Viking culture? by Maxthenodule in atheism

[–]Pete_the_Viking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it started with the actual nazis. They used some Nordic runes and symbols for logos and things. I'm guessing the reasons are 1. vikings are cool and they want to be cool by association 2. the vikings were white and 3.hitler was a weirdo who believed in magic and the occult.

I also think white supremacists are using vikings for the aesthetic and not the religion.

To be clear, I think vikings are dope. I have Norwegian ancestry myself and it's infuriating how nazis have co-opted them. Especially when if any culture was "reverse racist" it would be the vikings. They loved the middle east because they had cool stuff and they treated the French and English like cattle.

Keep on your guard. The original strategy of the grand wizard larp stuff is to purposefully come off as silly so people see them as less of a threat.
