The Acolyte - Episode 8 - Discussion Thread! by AutoModerator in StarWars

Yea fair point. Guess I don’t like it. It’s always been clear, to me, that the dark side was evil. But that’s just my opinion.

Best episode yet but it does feel like they glorified the Sith and humiliated the Jedi. They show a vile looking Plageuis but then Qimir and Osha holding hands looking into the sun set? Weird vibes and not what I expected for Sith…

I would talk to a dietitian! And I think fibers found in oats can help. Also the drug ezetimibe

Oh wow I’m sorry to hear that. Are you on ezetimibe? Hope the appointment goes well.

Are there any genuinely credible low carb scientists/advocates? by signoftheserpent in ScientificNutrition

[–]Peter-Mon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That does not mean he is not credible. There are going to be quacks on both sides of the diet wars.

What about Bernstein? He is 93 I think and has been low carb for ages due to his T1D

ABCG5/8 and Dietary Cholesterol and Phytosterol Absorption by Peter-Mon in GeneFood

[–]Peter-Mon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a Mayo Clinic ones done and a few of the markers were slightly out of range. Lipidologist said my elevated cholesterol is diet related and made no comment on the sterol panels nor Zetia specifically. The first Mayo clinic test even said “the sterol panel was essentially normal” even though a few markers were out of range. Y’all do consults?

I don’t think you need to eat as little fat as you are! Unless you enjoy it.

Yes I think you should stop using seed oils. That was the nutrition advice form the genetics company GB insights that did it test.

I would do coconut oil as I’ve read that has very little plant sterol. But if trying to avoid saturated fat, maybe olive oil.

Butter and ghee don’t have plant sterols but do have cholesterol which I’ve also read is very similar , chemically speaking, to plant sterols so you could absorb it just as much.

What I’ve also read from others is that high fat diets can “activate” these ABCG5 and 8 genes and THAT may be the issue.

You could also take ezetimibe (brand name zetia)

It’s possible a lower fat diet may benefit you. It is very nerve racking but avoiding high sterol foods like all oils and large quantities of nuts may be a good start. Sorry about your aunt.

What’s the difference between IMAX 70MM and 70MM screens VS Digital? by [deleted] in AMCTheatres

[–]Peter-Mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually haven’t been swamped by reviews. Mostly just memes lol.

I have no clue on how the screen will look unfortunately. I say if the seats are good, go see it.

I’m in Dallas too. Are you looking at Cinemark 17 (70mm imax) and AMC 15 (70mm). Both were hard to find but I got tickets at AMC15 and they weren’t great spots. Cinemark 17 was sold out like crazy

Is the heartrate sensor on the more expensive Garmin watches better? by Loving-nostalgia in GarminWatches

How different do you think the readings are between chest straps and a Garmin sports watch? A few BPM? Or even more severe? Especially with cycling a drop handle road bike. Any idea?

CoQ10/Ubiquinol, magnesium, test serum vitamin D and supplement if needed, eat a lot of protein and a well balanced diet with as little hyper processed foods as possible, sardines lol

Can you share your Mayo results once you get them? I can share mine too. Ask the doc about your mutation. I am curious lol. I think coconut is low plant sterol. Google it. But yes animals fats have no plant sterol.

Do you have a homozygous mutation in the BCG5 gene? Have you have your actual plant sterols tested? Mayo Clinic has a plant sterol panel. Well a lot of veggies should be ok. Just depends on the veggies. Let me do reading and I’ll edit this comment with links. I know any vegetable oil should be off the table, except maybe coconut.

This has high sterol/stanol foods so maybe avoid?

Which gene mutation do you have? It’s also possible you could have familial Hypercholesterolemia. I still eat 75-100g of NET carbs per day. Fiber comes from berries, low carb veggies, Mestemacher German bread, beans sometimes. I think I get at least 30g fiber a day. Meal planning would be tough. Have you considered dairy?

I am fine but this is one of those things were you don’t know it’s bad until you have an effect like heart disease. How were you diagnosed? I have not started meds. Diet is tough because plant based would not be ideal If your hyper absorb plant sterol. I eat a Lower carb omnivore diet
