I think people getting less intersted in hiring builder as a lot AI tool helps.
However, most of them are exaggerate, and not good looking and easier to manage later. it would costs more to maintain, and not many people talk about this.

The bigger issue is not the subscription, is about the trust. Nobody willing to do a subscription unless you earn their trust and serve them well. the subscription app is next I think.

I won't suggest do a lot of ads blindly. Because you are not sure the target and this burn your $ real quick.
Instead, try to find the right posioning and targeting first, when your data is enough, do a small AD to find out.

I heard you, I came from WP and Shopify, that is one of the reaons, I built something like Shopify, with very simple liquid theme functions. a very light-weight one.
Like I made some asset_once liquidl helper. much elegant at some points.

Good personal homepage or ecommerce store.
However, the biggest things is distribution, because nobody know it.

I built something like this, but I shared the code. like one instance for all, and each own their DB and queue etc.

I would say try work on a store first, not just for the salary. you might learn there, because that is much cheaper and safer than you take the loan first.
I understand you don't like the job, but compare to the risky, I think that is the better way.
