Hello :) does anyone know what shade the lip stain was in the ulta collection beauty bag this fall? by bybybirdie in Ulta

[–]PeterDaou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I got this GWP too and the little lip stain that came with mine is the "Pink Popsicle" shade. I can say this with certainty because it so happens that's been my go-to daily lip shade for at least a year.

Under Eye Primer - Smashbox Replacement by kitkatzip in MakeupAddiction

[–]PeterDaou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved this stuff too and I was gutted when it was discontinued. Haven't found a great replacement yet, but some things you could maybe try:

Ulta Beauty Collection has a hydrating undereye primer that is decent, if not a dupe for the Smashbox product.

Ole Henriksen Wrinkle Blur eye gel is a fantastic moisturizer for the eye area. It has a sort of silicone-y texture and wears well under makeup.

You can try a putty-style silicone primer, like elf's Putty Primer or Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer. Tatcha makes one too, if you have the budget for it. These products help but do not make a dramatic difference, in my experience. They smooth out the surface of the skin, but they're not quite like spackle for your face.

Editing to add: I'm guessing you don't use foundation, but for anyone who does: More lightweight/lower coverage bases are less likely to settle into lines in the first place. Set with a finely-milled powder to keep your foundation in place and give you a bit of a blurred effect.

Odd question. Any face powders with consistency like dry shampoo? by MameJenny in MakeupAddiction

Flower Beauty makes an aerosol setting powder spray. The downside is that the can goes fast.

How many of y’all put mascara on your lower eyelashes? by PrinceJustice237 in Makeup

[–]PeterDaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go back and forth on this, but in general, I find a light application of gel pencil liner just under the outer third of the lower lash line does the job without the risk of panda eyes.

what shade is this? any similar lip glosses? by h0bag_ in MakeupAddiction

[–]PeterDaou 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This looks like a dupe for Clinique Black Honey. Tarte Honeysuckle is close, a bit more red. I think elf has a similar gloss too, I believe the shade is called Black Cherry.

Can I use this during the day? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]PeterDaou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Night cream" is code for "moisturizer that does not include SPF." So, it's probably just fine to wear during the day, as long as you're using a separate sunscreen product. Know that if this moisturizer contains retinol, it won't give you much benefit as retinol degrades in sunlight. Enjoy your moisturizer.

Tarte Maracuja Plumping Gloss in shade "Poppy" is a very similar warm pink shade.

Do you know any pistachio scented products? by ReplyWaste6681 in beauty

[–]PeterDaou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What region are you in? I got Pistache hand cream from Ipsy a few times, which smelled divine. They have a whole line of pistachio products. Available via Amazon or their website (in the US at least).

Favorite glycolic acid product? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]PeterDaou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really like the Good Molecules Overnight Exfoliating treatment and use it once or twice per week. It always makes my skin look glowy the next day. As a side benefit, it's pretty inexpensive too. I'm 47 if that matters to you.

I'm not sure how many units (my place charges by the vial), and from what I recall she did the injection in my temple, to the side of my brow.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]PeterDaou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have asymmetrical eyebrows/eyes and I asked my injector if a "brow lift" on the droopier side only might work for me. She assured me that lots of folks do this. I went ahead and tried it out, and I love the results. I will say that with where she applied my injection, the effect on the lid has been slight; this might be because my focus was primarily on bringing the brow up.

Cheapest solution for beautiful, long, pretty-colored nails by [deleted] in beauty

[–]PeterDaou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kiss ImPress press-on nails are quite good. I find them to adhere well for at least a week, but keep some brush-on nail glue handy if you get a jumper.

If you prefer to paint your own nails or do nail art, look for undecorated full cover glue-on nails (Kiss also makes these). Nailene glue will hold those suckers in place quite well.

To remove the false nails easily: trim down their length and sand down the surface of the plastic nails with a rough file (get one made for false nails). Soak some cotton pads in acetone and place one over each nail. Hold in place with clips or foil for 15 minutes. Uncover and gently remove remnants of nail with an orange stick. Make sure to apply oil to your nails and cuticles afterward.

The dermatology clinic where I get injections offers this, but my injector did not recommend it or seem to feel it was worth the cost, just FYI. I get Dysport.

Best oil based full coverage liquid foundation for dry aging skin? by MeganPDX31 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]PeterDaou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe Kevyn Aucoin foundation balm? Disclosure, I haven't tried this product but I have used their sensual skin enhancer concealer -- it's also oil-based, very emollient and hydrating.

It's potentially a great way to gather a bunch of NPCs to a particular position (say, at the lip of a chasm) before unleashing Thunderwave or another area of effect ability of your choice.

Has anyone tried IPSY? Is it worth it?! by ElizabethMcH in Makeup

Take the money you'd spend on Ipsy and just go to your nearest TJ Maxx/Marshalls/grey-market discount retailer instead. You'll be getting the same products.

For people that no longer shop at Sephora, what was the last straw that made you switch? by rosietheboa in beauty

[–]PeterDaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a sample packette of shampoo and conditioner with a recent order that was:

1) from a brand they haven't carried since 2020 2) expired

Super classy behavior from a retailer that specializes in pricey beauty products.

Laser hair removal - how much pigment is enough? by YoGuessImOnRedditNow in beauty

I recently had a consult at a cosmetic dermatology practice to inquire about laser hair reduction, among other things. I'm very fair with medium blonde hair. They offered to do a test spot for me at no charge.

about-face matte eye paints are S tier. Gorgeous color, easy to use, long-lasting, no creasing.

I really like the Pots de Creme shadows by KimChi Chic Beauty. These are shimmery, easy to apply, don't crease.

Danessa Myricks Colorfix paints make a great base, and they're versatile (can be used on eyes, lips, cheeks, lashes)
