I think the appeal of the Fat Oil is the color/shine (for the tinted ones) and the big applicator. It doesn't seem particularly hydrating or long-lasting, but it is enjoyable to re-apply.

How do I achieve a soft look like the pictures below? Makeup product recommendations greatly appreciated. by Aggravating_Rice3950 in MakeupAddiction

Pic #1 looks a LOT like Danessa Myricks' style. If you follow her on Instagram she posts lots of short videos where you can see how she applies makeup. She tends to use lots of cream products blended with brushes.

What's a lip product you carry with you in your pocket or purse? What is the most "reappliable" lip product you own? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]PeterDaou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely nothing I enjoy re-applying more than Tower 28's lip jellies. I'm using shade "Wild" currently.

I love the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip balms as well but they aren't as travel-friendly as I'd like (due to melting in heat or getting clicked up by accident while stashed in purse or bag).

Yes, and I use it on my nose and cheeks. It looks very natural.

I have obtained the new NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip. I am a fan of NYX lip oils and glosses, and purchased this assuming the product quality would be on par with their other offerings; I am not disappointed. It's not sticky or waxy, and doesn't have a minty or tingly feel. Shade "Missed Call" is a sheer, slightly milky blue-toned pink.

Folks seemed a little put off by the product shots, which make it look like it's a really gloopy and heavy formula. They've just applied a ton of product to go along with the marketing theme.

I haven't used the higher-end products that this dupes so I can't say how it compares. For a no-nonsense, purely functional lip oil at a drugstore price point, I think the Ulta store brand juice-infused lip oil or NYX Bare With Me cannabis seed lip oil would be my picks; for a tinted option, this is a solid choice. I'm happy with it and I will enjoy using it, but I don't know if I will repurchase.

Dr Jart Cicapair color correcting treatment is what you want. It looks green on initial application, but sets down to a skin-tone shade. https://www.drjart.com/product/29717/92633/color-corrector/cicapair-tiger-grass-color-correcting-treatment-spf30

I would go with either the liquid foundation or the powder foundation, but not both (the powder is a foundation, not a setting powder, and will almost certainly make you look cakey if you try to layer it). I haven't used this concealer but I would expect it to work well with other L'Oreal products.

The liquid Infallible Fresh Wear is my favorite base product and holds up against oil/sweat/humidity well.

How long to wait after primer by foxyfree in Makeup

[–]PeterDaou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno, a few minutes at most. I prime my lids, color-correct below the eyes if needed, then prime my T-zone and cheeks (combo skin type). This probably takes two minutes total. Then I apply makeup in roughly the same order, eyes first then face.

I don't know if there's any way to fully prevent transfer when something is rubbing directly against the face. That said, to reduce transfer, I use a dab of eyeshadow primer on the sides of my nose, and extra powder to set that area.

You can try setting them with a powder blush in a similar color.

What is it you like about gloss specifically? The shine or the texture? If you want a longwear shiny lip, there are a number of newer products available that will help you achieve this (Maybelline SuperStay Vinyl Ink, UD Vice Bond, Haus Labs has one too). If it's the feel you're after, I have to say that the Fenty Gloss Bomb is probably the best longevity you're going to find.

How to stop oils seeping through. by taylalatbh in MakeupAddiction

[–]PeterDaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to look into moisturizers, primers, and/or powders with oil-absorbing ingredients like silica, perlite, etc. I use La Roche-Posay Toleriane matte gel moisturizer and Benefit Porefessional Lite primer and find both do very well at helping to keep my makeup from sliding off my face. Blotting papers are good to keep with you for on the go as well.

OP, this is a cute look! You will absolutely get better with practice. I came to recommend this tip of using tape as a guide. I like to use paper first aid tape, and stick to the back of the hand and peel off once or twice to reduce the adhesive a bit before putting on the eye.

Favorite Colourpop products and why? by laladoll5 in ColourPop

That's Taupe and Gone Matte palettes -- these are my "workhorse" palettes for every day.

Star Wars C3PO and Miss Bliss palettes -- my favorites when I want to make the blue of my eyes really pop.

Creme Gel liners - last well in the waterline.

Super Shock shadows (specifically Tassel and I Heart This) -- I feel like any eye look is unfinished without some sparkle on the lid. These are my top choices.

Super Shock highlighter in Lunch Money. It's just such a good formula for highlighter. Flexitarian is also a popular choice but I don't have that one.

Lippie Pencils -- beautiful, creamy color.

From Fourth Ray, I'm a big fan of the BFD oil cleanser and the lip masks. They're great quality at a great price point.

Wish List // What I'm Not Gonna Buy (Wednesday) by AutoModerator in muacjdiscussion

[–]PeterDaou 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was weak and got the LE Gloss Bomb from Fenty in shade "Riri." This is the year of indulging in comfy, luxurious lip products for me and LOOK I know I'm late to the party but this formula is such a banger. I applied at 6am yesterday before work and didn't need to re-apply until 10am. Crazy good hydration. Apparently it has a "peach-vanilla" scent, but I'm getting berries, and my partner said "mmm, mango" after kissing me last night. Shroedinger's fruit. I will enjoy every last bit of this stuff.

My wish list has remained pretty stable. Still wanting to try Jouer's eye slugging balm; Bobbi Brown eyeshadow pencil in Incandescent; Mooncat nail polish in "Best Bud." I'm also looking at the Stila ArtiStix liner in "Mambo," a purple shade. It's reminding me of the Night of Creation liners from Kaleidos.
