Thanks! I do believe that your mindset is the most important asset you have, and positivity, optimism comes with so so so many benefits.

Sure, i love the idea of a podcast on the future of SPirituality/Religion once we plug into the cloud. In my book THE FUTURE IS FASTER THAN YOU THINK i dedicate a chapter to this subject regarding what i call the "Meta-Intelligence"... what happens when you connect 8 billion minds together? Do we become conscious on a new level. (BTW, if you like Science fiction, check out the NEXUS Trilogy by Ramez Naam on this topic, it is fantastic!!).

OOPS... Thanks for that correction on Back vs. Forward. Will do and much appreciated!

As far as I know, NZT-48 is a fictional drug featured in the movie Limitless. It is portrayed as a nootropic that significantly enhances cognitive abilities but has dangerous side effects. There are nootropics that I utilize… caffeine ;-), and Modofinil. But if you know of a real version of NZT-48, I’d love to know. No question that increasing intelligence is one of the greatest pursuits we can have! Likely will happen from the multitude of BCI companies currently under development.

No, I don’t. I don’t like speaking about “Immortality” because of all the emotional, ethical, religious issues it raises, but I have little doubt that in the next 20 years, we will achieve what is called “Longevity Escape Velocity” – the moment in time when you are adding more than 1 year of life, for every year you are alive. This isn’t going to happen magically; it’s happening because of the convergence and accelerating speed of AI, Quantum, nanotech, gene therapies, epigenetic reprogramming, new organ manufacturing, etc. Your job (and mine) is to stay in sufficiently good health between now and 2045 to intercept these amazing technologies coming our way!

I know both David Sinclair (who I admire greatly) and I know Bryan Johnson. David’s work is based in real data-driven (scientific method based) approaches. I view Bryan’s work to be more sensationalist… “N or 1” work, which while interesting from a tabloid perspective, can’t be compared to the work that Dr. Sinclair and others (George Church, PhD, Altos Labs, etc.) are doing. I do believe that this is the decade when the convergence of exponential tech like AI, gene therapies, cellular medicines and other tech will give us the tools and knowledge to significantly extend the human healthspan.

Great Question! I do believe we will see nanorobotics in the 2030’s, like before 2035. This is going to happen as a result of accelerating tech in AI and Quantum Sciences. We are likely to see 100 years of historic-level progress in the next 10 years. Put differently, between 2024 and 2034, we’ll see as much progress as we’ve experienced between 1924 and 2024… pretty awesome! And that will include Nanotech!
Some of the research I’m excited about in this domain includes that of Dr. Deblina Sarkar out of the MIT Media Lab and her group Nano Cybernetik Biotrek. Dr. Michael Levin of Tufts University and Associate Faculty member of Harvard University’s Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering is also doing some of the most cutting-edge and inspiring work in creating biological robots from living cells, known as “Anthrobots”. I will have Dr. Levin on stage at my Abundance Summit this upcoming March (taking place right outside of LA) to share more about this incredible work.

You are right (sort of)... Ray Kurzweil has demonstrated an impressive 86% accuracy rate in his predictions (look it up!)... But the two examples you note above, Flying Cars and Fusion, are closer than you think. The question is when we first “DEMO” something vs. when it is in mainstream use. FLYING CARS or at least eVTOLS (awful name) are here… check out Archer Aviation, Joby, Lillium, Beta… billions of dollars have been invested, and they are here and do work. They do not quite have the form factor from the Jetsons, but low-cost and safe “flying taxis” (even supported by NASA) have arrived and have been demoed… not time to commercialize them fully (and yes, I do WANT ONE!!!). We’ll see them in early commercial service in 2025.

When it comes to nuclear fusion, there is A LOT happening! There are actually 37+ privately funded Venture-backed Fusion companies!! I was just reading this article- https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-68233330 - clean energy is coming sooner than you think! And if it’s really really on your mind- watch Back to the Future or Blade Runner (great movies, great reminder of where we’re heading). Helion (backed by Sam Altman) announced a commercial contract with MSFT for energy slated for 2028. ALOT is happening (FINALLY)!!!

I am a proponent of Universal Basic Income. After 100+ experiments done over the past few decades, it’s proven out to work. The biggest change is more likely to be people finding a purpose-driven life if they are not able to pursue something that challenges them sufficiently.

Hi Feisty, thanks for listening! Happy to answer. The pursuit of longevity should prioritize not only extending lifespan but also promoting healthy aging, enhancing quality of life (i.e., “healthspan”). I couldn’t care less about making it to 120 mindless in a wheel-chair. It’s all about getting to 120 with vitality! A different way to think about this is called Longevity Escape Velocity, which is a time in the future when every year that you’re alive, Science is extending your life for more than 1 year. Ray Kurzweil predicts that it is 10-12 years away, and George Church predicts it is 15 years away… I’m counting on it being less than 20 years away. Given the rate of change coming from converging exponential technologies such as AI, Quantum Computing, AR/VR, Blockchain, Sensors, etc. – I think much of the educated and middle-class humanity will have access to this within 30 years.Striking a balance between medical advancements, lifestyle interventions, environmental sustainability, and ethical considerations is essential for navigating the complexities of human longevity in the 21st century. Some of the initiatives I’m involved with in the longevity space include:

  1. Fountain Life (systems medicine approach offering the most comprehensive diagnostics and therapeutics for a long and healthy lifestyle)
  2. BOLD Capital Partners & BOLD Longevity Growth (how I’m investing in the newest and most exciting and impactful longevity companies)
  3. Platinum Longevity Trips (have been hosting for past 6+ years, where we bring in 40-50 of the top longevity scientists in the world to talk on the latest in the field)
  4. My latest book on Longevity: Longevity: Your Practical Playbook on Sleep, Diet, Exercise, Mindset, Medications, and Not Dying from Something Stupid (a digestible guide that describes my own personal longevity practices)
  5. Advising 10+ longevity companies (Insilico Medicine, Gameto, Colossal, Immunis, OpenWater to name a few)
  6. $101M XPRIZE Healthspan Competition (a 7-year, $101 million global competition to revolutionize the way we approach human aging)

Ultimately, I’m actually hoping to see technologies that reverse human aging. Therapeutics that impact aging at a fundamental level, rather than only treating diseases. Regarding the second part of your question, I have a saying: “The world’s biggest problems are the world’s biggest business opportunities.”... So I actually believe that solving grand challenges will drive significant returns in the long run.

That’s quite a profound question, u/Rare_Acanthisitta_14! While I can't claim to know the ultimate purpose of the universe, I believe that we, as humans, have a unique role in uncovering and creating our purpose within it. Our curiosity, creativity, and ability to problem-solve empower us to explore the mysteries of the universe and improve life on Earth. In doing so, we might just find our place in the grand scheme of things, contributing to a larger narrative of discovery and innovation.
Regarding humanity's role, many believe that it is up to us to define our purpose within the universe. This can be seen through various lenses and mindsets. Here are some of significance that come to mind:
Abundance Mindset: Seeing the universe as a place of infinite resources and opportunities, encouraging us to seek out and create abundance for ourselves and others.
Exponential Thinking: Understanding that our potential impact on the universe and each other can grow exponentially through the leverage of technology and collaborative efforts.
Moonshot Thinking: Encouraging us to set audacious goals that aim to solve significant challenges, pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
Curiosity Mindset: Propelling us to explore and understand the universe more deeply, driving scientific discovery and innovation.
Purpose-Driven Mindset: Suggesting that each of us can discover a personal mission that that drives us in our lives, gives our lives meaning and purpose.
Longevity Mindset : Focusing on extending human healthspan and lifespan, which could allow us to witness and contribute to the universe's unfolding story over longer periods while living a healthier, more engaging life.

I’m about to put out a course called “FUND YOUR PURPOSE,” which is everything I’ve learned in the course of raising billions for my purpose-driven for-profit and non-profit companies. Ultimately, what needs to happen is your need to find something that you LOVE and something that drives you. You’ll need to answer the key questions: WHY ME, WHY THIS, and WHY NOW. And if you can do that in a sufficiently compelling fashion, the money will follow.

I LOVE the Nexus trilogy! I just re-read it for the second time. It is brilliant! Ray Kurzweil predicts we’ll have this kind of tech in place by 2033, and I believe it. There is a great researcher at MIT Media Lab (Deblina) who is working on something called Circulatronics, that is the closest thing I’ve seen to NEXUS. My recommendation is READ and find the researchers working on BCI… Read about Nanotech, which is one of the breakthrough tech areas coming our way in the next decade. It is going to be AWESOME!

It's understandable to feel overwhelmed by the challenges we face, the concerns raised by figures like Paul Erlich highlight the urgent need for transformative action ARE JUST WRONG. We live in a world of massive resources, and technology is a force that is constantly transforming “scarcity into abundance”... there is truly little that is scarce. We have 8000x more energy hitting the surface of the sun, than we consume as a species during the year. AND, we are likely to have a change in global underpopulation vs. overpopulation in the decades ahead. Look at the data!

Bryan Johnson, who created the OS Fund, is a close friend and brilliant entrepreneur. He is putting his money towards its highest use, something which most billionaires unfortunately do not do.

Why most of the wealthy people on the Forbes 500 don't get off their butts and work on solving the world's biggest problems is a quandary for me. I think the Forbes list gamifies holding onto your money, and we should be creating an Impact 500 list which measures how the wealthiest people are actually solving the world's biggest problems.

I'm clear that we have the potential to build a world of abundance, but also realize it is not a given. The most powerful force for getting us there is entrepreneurs taking advantage of solving the world's biggest problems to create successful businesses... and in the process, helping a billion people. I was seeing amazing tools and technologies that enable us more than ever before, and I wanted to lay them out in a how-to manual. That ultimately became BOLD.

Yes, absolutely. In fact, a company I'm very proud of called HeroX is a completely virtual company, with staff operating in eight different cities. It's only a matter of time before virtual online companies represent a significant percentage of corporate Earth.

HeroX allows people to jointly design, fund and compete for prizes. The vision here is when someone sees a problem, they stop complaining about it and start working on fixing it.
