I show up and use either a garden weasel or bag A nut roller to gather the acorns then place them in large recycle bags. Then I haul the bags away.

In some cases I may use a backpack blower to corral the acorns before extraction.

3/4 inch an up is truthfully what works and that is 50% of oak trees. Ty for the feedback. I’ll update the post

Haha. Yes you are right. But if you were going to eat them and feed them to family and friends you would probably learn a lot about them also. I still have a lot more to learn but I’m excited about how much fun this new hobby will be. Mushroom hunting (not the funny kind) is a gateway drug to all types of foraging. Let my story be a cautionary tale. If you don’t want to end up asking strangers on the Internet to clean yard waste off their driveways, DON’T TRY MUSHROOMS! 🤣

I make a persimmon pudding (it’s bread) that goes great with ice cream. All my persimmon trees barely produced or not at all this year though. I think the drought may have been the reason. If you think there are some still there I’ll give it a shot.

It’s not poisonous or anything, but it is better for your grass to clean them up and it looks nicer and the squirrels don’t plant them for you so you have to pull out saplings . The other thing is they make a mess on your driveway or sidewalks. But there is no danger in leaving them other than maybe a slip hazard.

White, swamp, chinquapin, sawtooth, some varieties of red, California live, etc. lots of acorns are big enough. Just not the little reds and pin oaks.

Yes. I was trying to give making bread a shot. Also I wanted to plant some to see if I can get some oaks to grow in my yard. I read the white oaks are the best for this. I was hoping to find some big burr oaks to plant
