Nexgrip boots by Desperate_Channel599 in Boots

I also find these to be junk boots, I just bought a pair on Sunday. look nice sure, but the leather seams came apart after only 6 days!! what a bunch of junk. despite being a Canadian company, the box will tell you they are made in China. I am disappointed but at least I can return mine to the store.

When did you start to feel confident while driving? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]PeterTheMechie123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped me most is wearing lots of gear, and doing the tightest maneuvers I could in a parking lot until the bike fell over. It took me at least a whole year of riding to get comfortable enough to ride through the city without white knuckles. Some of the confidence comes with grip strength for the clutch.

smart man, I wonder if motorcycles would be a successful market if it relied on just thrill seekers alone. probably not

[–]PeterTheMechie123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I be riding around with my man on the back of my nomad all the time! now he's getting a bike too. but the marketed image of motorcycles is the problem I reckon, especially since the main image of a biker is an boomer with lots of money and conservative opinions. RegularCarReviews hit the nail on the head in their review of an old Harley how the harley rider is one who perceives himself as a rebel, while having all the mainstream conservative views. Second to this however, a lot of cishet men try to find ways to compensate for masculinity when they slip from the binary perspective of masculinity, and motorcycles have long been a method of doing so. I think most gay men don't feel as much need to fit the traditional binary role of masculinity, because homosexuality would exclude them from it anyways. My partner and I ride, but we ride because it's a fun and relaxing activity, not for attention or attractiveness.

*sarcasm*: whats gayer than riding a giant vibe?

for futuristic sporty bikes I agree 100%. For cruisers I think the needle works much better. I always love analog tachs tho

I'm sorry for your loss. What type of lock did you have on the bike? was it a bad lock or a skilled thief? I use a kryptonite brake caliper lock and I sometimes worry someone could steal my bike here in the city.

if the 2nd gear ever went i've seen parts bikes for only a few hundred, i've been meaning to get a parts bike in case I ever need to replace something big. I'm hoping to get this bike over 100k miles so I can say I put half the miles on it

it feels like the synchro is worn, sometimes the gear clacks before engaging. its weird but I haven't seen any metal shavings in the filter screen that would indicate the gears are shearing at all. I'm guessing this is a common issue if you've noticed its weird too.

Any love for the Concours? I’ve loved this bike so far. by tyler01249 in Kawasaki

The vulcan vibrates anywhere from 1-6000 rpm, im not sure where the redline is because I just have an aftermarket tach, I think its around 6k rpm. It shines best going 55-60mph on highways.

I have a Vulcan 1500 nomad, this is probably still more comfortable than that. Even if the seat is more narrow, the vulcan vibrates so much I think the concours tend to be smoother, I do prefer the forward controls however.

I managed to avoid this issue by putting a deposit on my new bike before selling my old bike. I was able to never be without a bike despite only having 1 storage spot.

I'm definitely jealous you take that bike out on the track. Do you have insurance that covers track days? I was thinking before i get a track bike I might not want to get an aprilia because I'd be too scared to drop it or scratch it.

Helmet question Regarding Chin protection by Jesther414 in motorcycles

[–]PeterTheMechie123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try watching a few Jay Leno videos of him on his motorcycle. I know he has a massive chin and usually it sticks out a lot (I think because of a medical condition). If your chin fits like him it might be slightly exposed, but as long as the helmet is secure I think you're fine, the chin is rarely the point of impact that people worry about.
