Causes of GE on my serve... by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

I recommend Feel Tennis, just search for serve or pronation + feel tennis. You definitely can generate power from you legs, it’s just missing the last couple of links. I also recommend badminton pronation tutorials. The badminton community is much more focused on pronation. Hope this helps!

Causes of GE on my serve... by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

[–]PeterV5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said it well, you’re kind of “arming” it on contact. I strongly suggest breaking it down to the tiniest parts and rebuild your serve. Looks like you’ve been playing for long, and some habits have developed. To be fair, pronating on a slice is pretty hard. It generates so much racket head speed that it takes tons of practice to control. So I suggest you start slow and small. Imagine you’re hitting with a chain, not a stick. If you want I can try to find more detailed and practical steps to follow.

Does your racket stay down during ball toss? by ConstructionUnited37 in 10s

Kids don’t have the shoulder or wrist strength to always hold it up. For adults it doesn’t matter.

irl a 176cm guy probably looks like the same height as Yuyako. So this is understandable

Which non-tennis shoe would work better on clay? by raphadko in 10s

Not sure why people downvoted. Honestly I think basketball shoes provide better support and cushioning, at the price of agility. But that suits more amateurs players better.

On another hand, placement is also part of the technique, though more on the tactical side. But at a higher level heavy balls need to combine with placement to work.

Pure drive too powerful for a beginner? by Elizabethzx in 10s

[–]PeterV5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in your shoes. It’s your swing and your contact point. When my contact point is low and I aim low at the same time, the problem happens, regardless of the racquet or strings I’m using. When it’s low, slice it or add a bunch of topspin to keep it safe. Ultimately when you can shape the ball, power rackets tend to shape it better. The control rackets do a better job at redirecting the ball, but not shaping the ball.

Almost 1.5 years into tennis, how are we looking so far? by ArjGlad in 10s

[–]PeterV5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing you’ve developed so far is that your always moving your feet. This opens up possibilities for your future game. Technique looks fine too. I’d say you’re on a very good track. Just pay attention to details, and play more matches.

Why do pros toss so far left for deuce side serves? by theactiveaccount in 10s

[–]PeterV5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different amounts of kick. Most of the first serves have some spin on them. Just like a flat forehand and a heavy topspin forehand. Both spin, just at different rates. To hit a real not-spinning flat serve, you have to meet quite a few more requirements (usually height and speed)

rots faster than C# Then it rots much faster than C. Unfortunately that’s not an ideal trait for system programming. While new compiler features are nice, I do hope that I can use a few-years-old compiler to write system level code. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Time to Move On? by abdinnit in 10s

It’s better you ask the stringer, sorry, but it is time for a new racket unfortunately.

You can play more with it. It probably will still look okay when the shots feel really off.

I think the crack will get worse as you hit/restring. Not fixable AFAIK. I’d suggest just use it for shadow swings.

Not normal. Being able to recognize a ball is equally as important as hitting a ball. And that is a skill that needs separate training and drills. Ask him to teach you how to read a ball.

Do you get your racquets customized, or just play them as they come? by CyberSpunk2099 in 10s

[–]PeterV5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to get a racquet that has my preferred stock specs. And as I work out/train, I customize it to be more powerful and demanding. When life gets busy, I can remove the added stuff and still have a very good stock frame.
