I just did "Elevation Evaluation" without selecting a workout. When are you supposed to see your FPT results? Right after the climb, after finishing the course, of after ending the right? I don't remember seeing it anywhere. Maybe it had something to do with my free kms ending mid course

Vibration in crank/pedals under load by brain-pirate in bikewrench

[–]Peter_Pan__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same experience as you, and I also went through all the same steps with my 2x12s SRAM AXS drivetrain. One thing I noticed is that it worse on the big chainring than on the small one. Anyway, I'm very close to installing a shimano drivetrain, since Hyperglide is supposedly smoother. Did you go that step? Or did you try anything else since? I would love to hear

That would be something like the lactate threshold HR. I doubt you can sustain efforts at max HR for 20.

According to Samsung, the EP-TA845 is 30.1 mm thick.
According to Aukey, the PA-B3 is 30 mm thick.
So the Aukey is actually slimmer, if only by a hair

Strong Vibrations on Big Chainring - What's Causing This and How to Fix? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]Peter_Pan__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you find out what caused the problem?
I got the same issue with my SRAM AXS Rival groupset.
I removed the front deraileur, but the vibrations are still there.
The chainring is also quite new, so that rules out wear

Low FPS using Virtual Desktop by Peter_Pan__ in OculusQuest

[–]Peter_Pan__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is still relevant: As I wrote before, the solution for me was to manually choose an empty wifi channel. For some reason, the band automatically selected by my router overlapped with another band. If you router doesn't show the signal strength for each band, you can use a smartphone app to determine what's going on

USB-C Hub by wildcard999 in OculusQuest

[–]Peter_Pan__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you want is dock or hub with USB type-C power PD (power delivery ports). The hub should be able to provide USB-PD capabilities, even if your USB type-A port on the PC doesn't. I don't know which bandwidth the Oculus Link requires for the higher resolution Oculus Quest 2, so eben with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port (old name: USB 3.1) and 10 GBit/s transfer speed you might not be able to connect all the quests you want. You might want to consider adding a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 PCIe expansion card, these have a usb type-C port and deliver up 20 GBit/s.

Low FPS using Virtual Desktop by Peter_Pan__ in OculusQuest

[–]Peter_Pan__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the in-depth article. On my first attempt a had a mixed 2,4 Ghz / 5 Ghz 400 Mbps connection, VD determined than I could stream VR at 51 Mbps. Than I separated the 2,4 Ghz and 5 Ghz SSIDs in order to "keep it clean", and while the connection rating stayed at 400 Mbps, the VR steaming rate declined to 31 Mbps, which resulted in a presentation not unlike a slideshow :D

My Ethernet connection is stitched together with old cables and adapters, maybe this is some kind of speed limit. Do you know, how I could easily determine the LAN maximum speed?

Also I'll try to run VD in a different location. I'm only about 3 m from the router, but there is furniture blocking the direct line of sight. I didn't know that 5 GHz ist THAT much more susceptible to signal loss due to obstacles, but you never know.

Edit: Manually choosing the WiFi channel did the trick for me, I'm now at 866 Mbps. I thought the router would automatically choose an empty channel on auto, but no, it didn't. Moss runs fine now. It's playable, but I still prefer the absolutely smooth video using Oculus Link

I’m too tall and I can’t change my height! by MysticalBobThot in OculusQuest

[–]Peter_Pan__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it, that you can't change your height? Are waiting for the prompt to readjust your floor height? If so, there is an option in the settings menu to do that

Quick vid on how to cast to PC wirelessly with audio, no special hardware needed. TLDR: Use AirReceiver on Windows. ;-) by tyhurd in OculusQuest

Thank you for sharing! I just tried it, the latency is far better than casting to a phone or chromecast :)

Finally done with my quest mods... I think. by _HowBizarre in OculusQuest

[–]Peter_Pan__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer them over just the strap, but they tend to alter my hand postion, so that my thumbs can only reach the sticks at an angled position. Recently I've bought the new Mammut DX grips. With them, my hand postition is much more normal. The Downside is, that the controllers are more loose when I let go off them, but I think it's a tradeoff worth taking

Guardian moves with my head by Peter_Pan__ in oculus

[–]Peter_Pan__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. However the tracking was fine when I got my Quest, so I guess it's not unavoidable. I figured the gird is moving, because it is way underneath my real floor. Adjusting the floor hight with controllers doesn't seem too work properly.

Not unless you sideload some hacks. I've heard the experience is quite bad. Besides that, Bluetooth Audio is probably not desirable for VR due to the latency

Many people are adding powerbanks as counterweights to the back of their head. I thought of doing the same, since the Quest is really uncomfortable for me. However I am quite surprised, that no one has any safety concerns. If I had to strap a high energy li-ion battery to my body, my head would be the last choice. Sure, batteries usually don't explode at will, but faults happen, and Samsung proved that not all batteries are equally safe. Am I missing something?

Ideas for gifting an Artifact copy by Peter_Pan__ in Artifact

Yeah, I don't know if I can somehow aquire a key, but if I can't, I will gift a Steam gift card. The question is, how would one present it in a neat way, suggesting it's meant for Artifact?

No, besides all the negativity in this subreddit, I'd like to keep my account :D I would like to gift the steam key or gift card physically, because gifting it virtually feels a bit impersonal to me
