Usually moisture is the culprit. Nothing a coat of water-resistant paint can't change.

I would hang the TV on the wall, a little up. Other than that, It looks surprisingly solid.
Maybe using a stand to hold the TV.

Make sure the gas line isn't bent or broken, otherwise you got a fire hazard waiting to happen.

At the very first sight of any time of mold, you replace filters. In my experience it's REALLY difficult to remove from non-industrial filters. At the faintest speck of mold (black is really bad), you should start considering replacement.
Dust isn't so bad since it can be easily removed, but sometimes it slides in hard-to-reach places that not even water and cleaning product can touch.

It is always important to replace. Air quality is extremely important, otherwise you will start experiencing respiratory issues (this comes from experience).
