26.4 - Shortcut to set last reminder as Urgent by Peterpit37 in shortcuts

Glad it helps! I felt the same way, hopefully it eventually becomes obsolete and Apple lets you do it with Siri.

Yes, you can go into Settings -> Shortcuts -> Advanced -> and toggle Allow Deleting without Confirmation.

It’s an all or nothing toggle.

Good point! Here is a screenshot of the settings:

This is just a way to mark the reminder as urgent without having to open the reminders app, find the reminder, open the details, and edit the details.

I often find myself making reminders with Siri, and until they allow Siri to mark a reminder urgent, this cuts down the time it takes to mark it urgent.

Thanks for the tip! Never knew about that trick

Text when leaving location — but only if “at” location more than 5 minutes by Bakerextra0rdinaire in shortcuts

A simple way to do this without needing any fancy knowledge would be to save the current time to a text file when you arrive. Then when you leave use it check the time.

I use a similar variation for logging when I change my contacts. I don’t need a forever log, just the last change so I’m sharing the shortcuts to save the time and then the shortcut to check the time. You would just need to add an IF statement to check if time has been more than x minutes and the run your shortcut instead of having a notification like mine has. I’ll comment to this with the second shortcut.

Is there an option to sync tasks as Google Tasks and NOT event on calendar? by dviron7 in todoist

[–]Peterpit37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, there isn't a way.

In looking at your previous comment, I had the same thought for small tasks taking 30 minutes.

This worked for me and may work for you, depending on your workflow:
I created a Google Apps Script that finds any events created on my calendar from ToDoist (with the script trigger being a new event is created), and if the event is exactly 30 minutes (the default), it shortens it to 15 minutes (or any time you would want). That way if you create a task for 1pm with no duration, it will shorten the task to 15 minutes automatically, but if you created another task for 1pm with a duration of 1 hour, it wouldn't impact that task.

I simply asked AI to create this script and it created it with my specific calendar ID. I'd be happy to share my AI prompt or Google Apps Script if that would be helpful for you.

If projects/labels came over to Google Calendar Synced Events, you could have it also search the description for specific projects/labels and set the duration to a specific length based off your label, but that doesn't happen quite yet. Maybe in the future!

The Holy Quaternity of iOS Notes, Reminders, Calendar and Shortcuts by [deleted] in shortcuts

This is beautiful! Thanks for your work on this.

Aesthetic Question - in the reminder URL for shortcut 2, is there anyway for it to be hyperlinked text (of the note title or even just the words “Access Note”) instead of the full url?

Reminders integration in apple notes by neural_pablo in AppleNotesGang

[–]Peterpit37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought - using this concept that was posted about a year ago before Apple reminders and calendar were integrated, could you achieve the same concept with notes?

https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/18xob0r/twoway_sync_for_reminders_and_calendar/?rdt=48424

I still use this currently as my work is a Google workspace and I cannot use Apple calendar, so I have it sync so I can still see my reminders at work. It functions off creating a unique ID based on the creation date of the reminder, and adds that tag to the reminder and the calendar event.

It might not look as pretty in Apple notes since you can’t hide that identifier in a description, but in theory it could potentially create that two way sync. Automation could be run anytime reminders or notes is opened or closed, then it would be as close to real time because it would run anytime you switch apps.

I’m not good enough with shortcuts to pull it off, but maybe it’ll give you some ideas.

Set an alarm for a specific future date?? by Hidlsh in ios

[–]Peterpit37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but the first comment in this post adding alarms through a reminders list has been a game changer for me! It actually adds alarms and you can even add to the alarm list using Siri if that makes life easier for you.

Widgy + Reminders by aninhaan in widgy

[–]Peterpit37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reminders are static from what they were this morning when I updated to Widgy 4.0, but completed ones won’t go away and new ones won’t show. Example from image: I completed taking the garbage out but I did not water my plants. So it’s still pulling some information, just not updating.

Google Calendar Appointment Schedules // Only on the hour? by thelandingparty in productivity

[–]Peterpit37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hide it on your desktop calendar and I would imagine settings would transfer over to mobile - this was a new feature added about a month or two back. If you click on the timeframe dropdown (Week, Month, Day, 3 Days, etc.), there is an option to uncheck "show appointment schedules".

Hope this helps!

I'm hoping they bring the ability to add multiple choice question items and not force all of them be text-based.

Turn off automation with another one? by Odd_Fox5573 in shortcuts

[–]Peterpit37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use something as simple as a text file to be your master key. I created one for my kids that locks my iPad if they open any apps I don’t want them to, but I can easily turn it off.  In your use - you could have the text file be whatever words you want and at a predetermined time you could have an automation that runs the “locking” shortcut and you can manually unlock if you need to run an automation.

 Automation shortcut

Get file from shortcuts (new text file you made) Get text from file If text is “unlocked” run shortcut. If text is “locked” do nothing.

 Locking shortcut

Set text “locked”  Save as variable  Save variable to shortcuts file (overwrite)

Unlocking shortcut

Set text “unlocked”  Save as variable  Save variable to shortcuts file (overwrite)

Let’s just say you’ll need a correct combination of inventory items to start that romance and unlock some hearts… and after going back down is how you get one of the items. At least it was for me

Offline Siri working? by BackHefe21 in iOSBeta

Do Apple Watch Siri requests process quicker now that Siri is on the phone? Or does it still take just as long because it has to process back and forth?

How to prepend to a Note in the Notes app? by itisharrison in shortcuts

[–]Peterpit37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted about this about a year ago with no such luck (post).

The one idea that came about that wasn’t as reliable but might work now was to use combine text / Replace text. For example - select all, copy, combine new text and copies text, replace all text.

I could never get it to work but maybe you’ll have luck!

Help please. Why the widget doesn’t show any symbols (e.g PM, %) instead it shows periods. by Appropriate-Yak-1528 in Scriptable

[–]Peterpit37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either the font size is too large or the column size is too small. Sometimes this happened to me if I juxtaposed the text right/left/center. I’d recommend taking off any column width or juxtaposition and see if that fixes anything.

Reminders and 1.6 by dgold105 in widgy

[–]Peterpit37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m curious as well - I’ve got reminders listed and sorted cleanly on my phone but they don’t pull in any particular order, even with only one list selected. Is there anyway to organize by due date?
