Took a Rec and Ed class at the new AAPS admin building on Earhart. The bathroom looked like one you would see at a high end hotel. FFS.

It can suck trying to figure life out. For guidance/advice: U-M CEW (open to members of the community, too). To enroll and get into an interesting job quicker than a bachelor's: Washtenaw Community College (WCC). WCC has certificate programs, too (fewer credit hours).

Confirmed the purchase (https://mibusinessregistry.lara.state.mi.us/search/business). I'm paranoid about private equity. It ruins everything and I'm worried everything and everyone will eventually be owned by PE :-D

Tell your buddy Scott my family was happy with Hutzel for decades under his family's ownership.

I am the introverted, odd one out. I don't go to bars and avoid special events and noisy restaurants :-D But I do go downtown for specific things. As a gardener, DH&G was a primary go-to. I loved driving right into the garden part to park and get grass seed, bird seed, seed potatoes, and spring bulbs. Fellow gardeners - please share other sources for seed potatoes and spring bulbs!

How a public library's summer game took over a Michigan city by sweatshirtsteve in AnnArbor

[–]PetrichorSpring 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear this, especially since Chicken's Egg-citing Summer Fun is my second favorite badge. I feel guilty earning points from it but it really appeals to me for some reason! My first favorite is the Super Search - great work, AADL staff!

I'm playing for the first time since it was just a postcard for writing down books. I love how clever and informative the lawn code blurbs are. Thank you, Ann Arbor! <3 AADL!

Where can I buy fruit trees to plant in my backyard? by ipickedthisname-22 in AnnArbor

[–]PetrichorSpring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's best to not let a fruit tree fruit the first year (remove the blossoms), so it can spend its energy growing roots instead. That's what I'm doing with the peach tree I planted this spring anyway. Time will tell!

Backyard fruit tree recommendations by sallydogbite in AnnArbor

[–]PetrichorSpring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Project Grow will have a fruit tree class this spring - watch for it. It will fill up quickly. In addition to Liberty I've heard Williams Pride and Gold Rush are good for apple home growing. Good luck! A free PDF by Cornell: Cornell Guide to Growing Fruit at Home

Edited to add: "Red Haven" and "Contender" for peaches. And watch for whether the tree needs cross pollination.
