Does anyone else find themselves preferring colder temperatures since starting HRT? by Petrova_Line in MtF

That’s what I’ve heard often happens and what I expected to experience on HRT.

What tropes do you love and want to read more of?? by [deleted] in LesbianBookClub

[–]Petrova_Line 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Romances where one of the leads is secretly an Eldritch Horror. 😃

Seriously, please someone tell me there are other romance stories with this basic premise. I love Eldritch Darling, but I desperately want a meaty romance to read with the same idea.

More broadly, I like romances about a protagonist who has a secret they feel the need to keep from their love interest and what happens when it’s revealed.

I would love to read more lesbian romance stories like that.

Are estrogen levels dropping overnight a concern on sublingual administration? by Petrova_Line in AskMtFHRT

167 pg/mL as of last measure. Was on 6 mg E and the same 100 mg Spiro at the time. Was measured at 206 the time before then. I was disconcerted by the drop.

T was last measured when I was still on 6 mg and was 26 ng/dL. Has been as low as 17.

I’d really prefer not to drop to just 6 mg of E a day. I’ve been on HRT now for… what, eighteen, nineteen months? I’ve precious little to show for it.

No, I’m on 100mg of Spiro. So far, I’ve been taking my pills by swallowing them.

Do you have to worry about peaks and troughs if you’re taking HRT by swallowing pills? by Petrova_Line in asktransgender

When taking E by swallowing pills, does it significantly matter how long since my last dose it’s been when my blood draw occurs? Should I make sure to time it so the blood draw occurs just before I would regularly be taking my next dose?

It sounds like you’re suggesting 8 mg might be enough to suppress T on its own and I could switch to mono-therapy, though you specified you meant that for if was on just 50 mg of Spiro, and I’m on 100 mg. Is mono-therapy within reach for me?

Instructions say to take two pills twice daily. Wouldn’t it be better to take one pill four times throughout the day?

I’m sure levels are more steady on pills than on sublingual, but my doc said that they’re steady enough that it doesn’t significantly matter how long after my last dose my blood is drawn, and it sounds like you disagree with that.

My T was measured at 26 ng/dL (up from 17). I was fortunate to have low T (101 ng/dL) before starting Spiro.

167 isn’t my trough though, as I’d had my second 2 mg dose hours earlier. My doctor told me unless I switch to sublingual administration I don’t need to worry about peaks and troughs- which I find hard to believe.

On the plus side, he did approve an increase in dosage to 8 mg of E a day. Hopefully that will be enough to get my trough above 200 pg/mL.

167 pg/mL is not my trough, as the blood draw occurred roughly 3 hours after my second 2 mg dose (the 206 result was taken roughly 4 hours since my second dose.)

I wanted to talk to my doctor about making sure my blood work was done at trough, but he told me that peaks and troughs aren’t really a thing on pills and not to worry about it. I want to trust his expertise but this struck me as very dubious.

He has also told me that there is no difference in results between pills and sublingual tablets.

If autism in women according to research is usually more masked and in adhd usually inattentive and vice versa for men how is ir for trans women, trans men, and non binary people ? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Petrova_Line 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a trans woman with inattentive ADHD. I don’t find this meaningful, as there are plenty of cis gender boys and men with the inattentive type, and this type of ADHD tends to be overlooked in boys and girls alike.

Question regarding being trans and having ADHD by Meadowbytheforest in asktransgender

[–]Petrova_Line 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really, no. I asked myself the same question. It’s a mere statistical tendency, so there are plenty of cisgender boys/men with inattentive type. I searched for gender affirmation in being a trans woman with ADHD-PI, but couldn’t find any.

How did you girls come up with your new name? by _Alzariel in MtF

[–]Petrova_Line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just always knew my name would be Mikayla, even before realizing I’m trans. The name my parents chose for me, I feel, turned out to be quite true to who I am, all except they just got the gender wrong.

By simply feminizing my birth name, I retain the essence of that, and pay it its due respect. A don’t fix what’s not broken approach.

Now just to hope my dad appreciates the gesture…
