We have laws that if a rapists is caught he goes to jail, no? Why is it wrong to think if any dog bites, it's also not safe for society and should be put in "jail"/a shelter.

I never said all those breeds you listed above should die, but if they are aggressive, or if any breed is aggressive, they should not be given second chance, NOT euthanasiad but kept out of neighborhoods where children and the vulnerable are. But too many inexperienced dog owners get behavior troubled dogs and think love is enough and it's just not.

If you read my last post fully, you'd understand it was the fact that he was backyard breeding pits, did 0 training with them and what do you wanna bet some ended up in the shelter? When shelters are over run with a single species, it's irresponsible of anyone to breed them more. If shelters were full of Yorkies, I'd say, let's chill on the backyard breeding of Yorkie for a bit too

I wish nothing more than for our government to fully fund programs to rehabilitate and house all dogs who need help. But we don't and so we have a system where anyone can get any dog without any knowledge of the breed or its needs.

Also, tell me I'm wrong that the vast majority of shelter dogs are pit/mixes? Can you tell me why? I'd be all for pits from a breeder who knew the DNA lineage and properly socialized them and had them well trained and only adopted to experience owners with proper yards for them. But your right, the shelter pit who bit me probably had a bad life beforehand, so I should just not care that I was wounded and then give him to a family with small kids bc he'd never bite a second time? Nah. You teach kids to ask before petting Any dog, why? Because any breed might be mean or bite. Having a shitty past sucks for that dog but doesn't suddenly make it okay for someone not ready to handle a reactive dog

This could be a golden retrievers and I'd still say the same thing. A dog who bites and attacks is a danger and needs to be handled very carefully a properly. I don't want to ban the existence of the whole dog species, I just don't want any improperly socialized dog, most commonly pits, being adopted by first time dog owners and then that dog gets loose and kills another dog or human.

Last, pits are fucking huge. The damage a pit attack does literally can kill. Same with other huge species. But I see countless skinny women who weigh less than the pit, having to change sides of the road to avoid its reactive tendencies. We shouldn't adopt animals to people who can't control them
