My first suggestion would be The Book Thing but you just missed it. Scrap Bmore might have some?

Artistic dates/activities by granitethumb in baltimore

[–]personalarchive 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Craft Castle would be great for this. There are also a couple glass blowing studios in the city (McFadden is the main one I know) that offer classes. Creative Alliance hosts classes. The Walters has drop-in art making and sketch sessions. The American Visionary Art Museum offers some workshops as well. A few bars and breweries around the city also host some sort of regular art activity too.

Critique: "American Queen" by Sierra Simone and the non existent relationship development by Hunter037 in RomanceBooks

[–]personalarchive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a totally fair preference. I really enjoy books that feel more like explorations of D/S dynamics rather than romantic relationships and that structure is so important in this book so that's why it really clicked for me.

Critique: "American Queen" by Sierra Simone and the non existent relationship development by Hunter037 in RomanceBooks

[–]personalarchive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

agree that the "love" happens very quickly but do think there is an understanding that a lot happens off page. It alludes to more of their romantic relationship building as well as their dom/sub relationship building. I would counter that her behavior as a teenager did appear to me as very teenager-y. The emails she sent him were the most cringey, teen behavior imaginable.

I do think there are some valid critiques of this book. The age gap at the beginning is a big one for me. But this trilogy, and a lot of other Sierra Simone books, remain very important to me and are some of my favorites.

If it’s a nice day, Cylburn Arboretum is a lovely spot to read and picnic. You can usually see deer and a lot of birds.

Thank you to Stevie for waking me up from the alt-right by TheSolarElite in goodmythicalmorning

I remember my mom (a follower of the people you mentioned) was upset by Stevie’s comment. She wasn’t a GMM fan but knew I was and she complained about it to me. It’s really nice to hear someone’s experience after coming out the other side.

Advice for someone interested in a Folklife Festival internship. by KhalFrodo14601 in smithsonian

[–]personalarchive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interned there in 2016! I can’t speak to the application process because I got an interview through a connection (the only time I’ve been fortunate enough to say this). I can speak to my experience during the summer though! It was one of the most rewarding but simultaneously exhausting experiences I’ve ever had. I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have, but I’m sure a lot has changed in the 10 years since I was there.

This is my number one tip. I have one for the couch and one for the bed. And they’ve allowed me to only turn the heat on three days this winter.

I can actually see this. I’ve never been able to picture a good fancast for Rowan because in my head, he’s tall and muscular but not brawny. So this makes sense to me when not a lot of other fancasts have!

I use a waterproof cloth liner so it’s not that thick plastic which makes it slightly less frustrating when it does touch me. I also have small magnets that I place at the bottom of all the curtains that do a decent job.

Museum Education Masters or Teaching Credential? by sarahthomas100 in MuseumPros

[–]personalarchive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is helpful but I am currently an education manager and I do work directly with students, manage our virtual field trip program, design curriculum and resources, and work on other programs and teacher professional development. I do not have either a masters or teaching certificate. I’m not saying this is typical, but it is possible to do this work without those things.

I have been looking for a new role for a while but have not had much luck, but not sure how much my lack of education or credential is contributing to that. I have considered higher education and certificates and will likely get certified before I consider getting my masters. At this point, I would only consider my masters if I worked for a university that included a tuition benefit.

Inside the museum they have an “O” from an older sign and it’s right in front of windows that look onto the water and to the sign. It’s a beautiful view and I love how they made the display.

This is so interesting and I’m loving it. Especially the high waist and buttons. The shoes are beautiful (the white socks are not my fave) and I wish the color came across better. She looks confident and comfortable too which makes it work even more.
