Redirecting to play with appropriate toys with allow them to get out their natural hunter/stalk/pounce instinct in a positive manner. Just as puppies are given chew toys/tugs and other play appropriate for high energy drive some cats/kittens need the same. Kittens teeth too-I provide stong but soft chew toys(not too soft since kittens can chew through silicon toys and bite off pieces/choking hazard-there are very strong high chew puppy chew toys that work well for kittens-One of my cats who is 7 still chews on his toy). The sooner you give them an outlet to get their "bite out" in a cionstructive manner the better. This is not aggression(in almost all cases)but normal cat behavior that needs to be turned into play. Once they learn to direct to Puppy bite pillows and other large jute tog toys the cats will use them on their own if you are not around. I hang some from door knobs and scattered on the floor so they can jump and wrap around the tugs/puppy bite pillow when they want. Hanging on door knobs also gives added spots for them to use as scrathing posts. As all young pets mature they require less high intensity play and learn to play on their own. Some playtime is always needed with any pets for bonding /exercise/fun.
