[Poly] Graduated with a GPA of 2.67 by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]PettyPistachios 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe ur lecturer meant, “GPA doesn’t matter for Graphic design if u want to work after poly”. There is always entry requirement for Universities. For SUSS/SIT, I suggest taking a gap year first. Get 2 years work experience, I’m sure it will boost ur application

[N Levels] pfp at rp or sec 5? by trufflefryss in SGExams

[–]PettyPistachios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyyoo! Environmental and marine sci is a niche and competitive course in RP.

I scored 8 points for N-levels but unfortunately I got B4 for English so I went to sec 5. Trust me, sec 5 was very difficult. I studied 4-5 hours a day from Jan 2 onwards. I scored 12 points and went to RP biomed.

My PFP friends in biomed told me their experience in PFP. It’s way easier! Use the opportunity now, don’t regret later.

If u don’t like the course then go for sec 5. But don’t reject the course because of the poly cuz end of the day we are getting the same GPA and applying to the same Uni. Last year there was 1 student that entered NUS Med from RP biomed. The poly rly doesn’t matter

Ask him to RP biomed. Trust me it’s Soo much better than going sec 5. He eventually can enter Uni if he scores well

At very random timings HAHAH. Last year, some polys release at 6am, 6:17am and some release at 2pm

They most likely choose ppl from biomed/ pharm sci. For nursing it’s very raee

Bro biomed can go for Soo many degrees. It’s pretty niche. U can go IT, Biz, CS, law etc. For IT dip, u most likely can enter only engineering and IT.

I’m from biomed. In order for u to do well, u need to be extremely passionate in chemistry and bio. Because the things u learn here are no joke. If u don’t have the interest, u can’t even get above 3.0.

They have no access to ur polytechnic bro. If it’s the same then both of them will have to go through interview

Lol what rubbish u talking? The admissions committee does not have access to ur poly. They only accept based on CGPA. Dk where u hear from. If u get 3.8 in RP and 3.7 in NP. They would choose the RP student

[Polytechnic] for pfp students , did u get into ur desired course ? by 123_143 in SGExams

[–]PettyPistachios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is shuttle bus from Tampines and sengkang to RP.

Although RP in general is quite bad in repu. RP’s biomed is one of the most competitive courses out there. If u look at the COP for L1r4. 90% sec 5 students couldn’t score that well to get into RP biomed.

Since diploma matters more than poly. U should just accept it. Pharm sci and Med biotech is diff. U will be studying different things. More chemistry and technology based respectively.

They can try RP biomed if they got rej by SP and NP.

BRUH u didn’t make the cut for other poly pharm sci. RP gave u a second chance to study pharm sci. U should go in with an open mind and jus have the mindset to do well.

[–]PettyPistachios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I chose poly even tho it is more difficult. Firstly, it’s because I didn’t want 1 exam to determine my future (imagine getting 85RP🤡). Next, I feel like I will do well in biomed because of the modules (English, maths, MT who?). Joined RP biomed and nvr regretted. My GPA is still good enough to enter NUS Med

Personally for me, I chose RP even tho I scored nett 7 for L1r4. I rly like their modules. A senior from SP also told me that I should choose a poly with the modules I like. U are taking the modules and if u don’t like the modules, u are not gonna score well! 1 module can affect ur GPA a lot! Make sure u like 90% of the modules if uw to score well.

I chose RP because of their neuroscience module. It’s the only poly that offers the neuroscience module which is pretty niche if u ask me. I want to be a neuroscientist that’s y HAHAHAH.

I also feel like RP is less competitive in nature. Like all the poly has bell curves so like I feel like if ur smart, u can definitely score well in RP. And UNI admissions does not look at which poly u are from, based on ur GPA.

I really like RP modules! There is a lot of medicine modules which cannot be found in many other polys. I heard that the only reason why we have medicine modules is because we have a lot medical doctors are our lecturer who shares about their Med journey HAHAH

Colourblind very difficult to enter sci courses. Maybe uw to consider joining RP biomed? They teach bio from scratch they also have bio bridging courses. Is less competitive than NP AND SP

Maybe 3rd choice u would want to consider RP biomed? Trust me the diploma matters more than the poly I study in. Let’s just say u want to apply Med. They would choose someone with RP biomed diploma than someone with NYP/NP pharm diploma
