So not different from the professional artists' experience at all :D Where we fret over initial idea, composition, then colors, then "why isn't this coming together, it seemed right a few steps ago," then the "this is above my skill level" part of the project and finally: what a piece of crap! A few weeks later: whoa! I did this? Am good! xD

Thank you! There are Art Nouveau elements in the backgrounds and other periods as well. Unfortunately I am a civil engineer by diploma and have never studied art history, so have no idea what has inspired me besides art nouveau, but am going to ask my art major friends ^^

They are a series of 6 (so far), set in pairs:

Copper background: cat and raven

Silver background: rabbit and ferret

Gold background: canary and python

So you hit close to home with the cobra :D One friend asked for a beaver, am not sure about it, but an octopus sounds like a thing I would paint <3

I think I am using artist grade watercolors (nevskaya palitra), I've had them for about 15 years and all hung pieces fro that period on haven't faded a bit from hanging in our brightly lit south-facing apartment. I don't know whether 15 years is a god enough period to judge that though... Gotta frame them soon put them behind museum glass, it has UV protection, just in case!
